I appreciate that. I'm holding off for now myself due to these issues as well as wanting a 4-season camper and figuring out if a GFC is best for that with having to do a lot of customized insulation.

That's the part I found most frustrating, and I told them as much.

I was offered updates because my rear panel wasn't sealing as well, and I though it would just need an adjustment. Without me asking, the camper was picked up, resealed, etc.

I had also at the time requested the newer tent and was told that would happen, but that didn't happen. I was okay with that though because they didn't invoice me either.

Basically, minor things, don't affect the camper, it was no big deal to pick up my camper and deliver it again. Again I didn't ask for that.

I actually have an issue though? It's on me to fix with warrantied parts or to drive to San Diego to have someone do it while delivering to others. Supposedly the curing can be done in the field now, when it went back the reason it took so long was the sealing material had to cure properly.

@mac_2_nite They told me my hinges could be replaced and the camper be resealed in the field when they delivered to others. If that's true don't drive up there, ask them to do it when they're closer to you. Also, I said this to you on the gofastforum as well, I'd hesitate to get that done anyway as when the hinges break again I'd rather not have to deal with all the sealing material.

What are people doing for winter camping set ups? Has anybody here made a custom panel to allow heat from a Mr.Buddy to escape up?

Yes - folks have trimmed down their 2 small panels to leave a gap. Works great - I keep forgetting to do mine.

We are going to create a new panel so the old one is still retained. Girlfriends family owns an upholstery business so it should be a quick job. Will keep people posted with results.

In Bozeman for the week so I couldn’t not check out the GFC shop! Taylor Wallace was great and gave me a tour of the facility. Really cool to see behind the scenes and learn more about the production process - for instance I didn’t realize Hondo Garage even fabricates the nuts and bolts holding the camper together. He also mentioned they have an impressive 30ish employees working for them now as well.

Was there on September 30, 2019 and had mine installed. Got the tour. Had the same tour a year ago when I put in my order. They have really ramped up. The guys who installed my camper were awesome.

Was there on Friday getting mine installed. Great group of guys, and quite the operation they've got going on there.

    You're right. My apologies.
And before the forum police point it out, yes, I know it's not a Tacoma. :sadviolin:

Add me to the broken hinge club. Rear hatch. Did not fail catastrophically. Cracked in the middle. It was loud. Sounded like brittle sun-dried plastic cracking.

    Still usable, for now.

    Edit: build 20 something.

Definitely. Don’t care how good the service is if this keeps happening to people. Some more than once. This was my first broken hinge.

pic attached. Not the best pic. About a 5” section is separated. The rest might go soon. Attempting a field repair later today as I don’t have time for a full fix now.

Anyone done the metal hinge yet? I know it was linked a while ago.

IG-speak or iEnglish for short? We need to catch up or be left behind.

I think there was a Twilight Zone episode like that. Dood woke up and folks slowly started using different words for everything. That one really stuck with me for some reason.

Going to drill holes on either side of the crack? Metal strap hinge on top of the plastic one?

Drill stops don't do a good job of stopping cracks. It is very hit or miss.

If you go this row, use lubricant (water, alcohol, oil, or anything) on the bit and go slow to get a very clean hole.
