    Bingo.

Early customers got defective products that failed catastrophically in some cases. They were repairing and shipping those units for free under warranty. They are now charging.

The claim is that the original warranty did not cover free repair and shipping and they were doing it to be helpful.

Anyone have the original website warranty from the way back machine?

Not a good PR move no matter the warranty language.

As an early customer with a major failure it feels like being cut loose or gouged for repair that is due to their poor design or QC. We shouldn’t have to pay for their mistake.

I don’t think they get the urgency. Gfc claimed to be working on “how to” repair videos for the future. People have problems now, need support and repairs now.

This isn’t a product that can just be put on a shelf in a closet when it fails. It is bolted to your vehicle. Removing it is a pain and it takes up lots of storage space that not everyone has.

edit-> It is unclear if shipping AND repair were intended to be covered originally. They were in practice. It sounds like repair is still covered, but not shipping.

Now this I COMPLETELY agree with. Since I bought one sight unseen, coughed up cash and waited for months - still not seeing one, and have been talking about this thing to folks A LOT - I think I deserve having a little sunshine blown up my ass.

I don't have a spare canopy just sitting around to use while I get this thing repaired. So, I'm going to spend a grand or better to buy a canopy for use while I wonder when the hell my GFC is going to come back.

I wonder if they can do all this work in the field and can just dedicate a truck to head out and start making repairs?

That’s what they said right, hiring a mobile repair guy? The question is how much does that cost and what repairs are properly able to be done in the field? What about people in apartment buildings and can’t have someone working on their shell in the parking lot, is the guy going to take the shell to a field somewhere and work there? I’m curious to see how this is actually implemented. GFC said some fixes have to be done in the shop, and what about multiple or repeat failures? Not sure how economically feasible a guy going all around the US is going to be, especially when it’s in a circle.

For some, white glove service reads nice on a screen but somehow the reality is a bit different.

The reality is all of this would be okay if communicated properly.

The problem us when we all end up in an echo chamber like this left to our own devices.

It's hard for me to not be jaded though at this point.

Justified perspective, especially in your case.

I think they’re misleading on purpose, and they’re now caught up in it. Wiley himself keeps contradicting his reports of his own camper not having any issues or updates.. something something about getting caught up in lies to where you forget what’s true, what isn’t, and what you’ve previously claimed.

There is communication and actually communicating effectively. I always have gotten an email response back within a day or so. Others report otherwise. Communication is always professional. My only complaint was trying to pin down a timeline for shipping, warranty, and redelivery. I did not get a definitive answer, but did not push since I wanted to put off full repair until the camping offseason.

The part that is lacking to me: We share our stories on here and realize gfc have told different people different things. Some people got different stories from multiple gfc official employees. We have to piece it together.

They seem to be flailing or winging it.

On another note, it is finally raining here. My front tube fills with water and leaks rusty water too :annoyed:

Yeah, that's a better way of putting it.

I have rusty tubes but have yet to leak water from them.

The camper is great at dripping water into the cab when the rear doors are open though. All weather floor mats are a must.

Yeah, if I sleuthed to that point I'd be a wreck, lol.

As it is, I draw a terrible joy from knowing this is a shared experience among a few of us.

    I'm sure it'll come right.

GFC will figure it out, we'll all be taken care of.

As I've said before, there was a standard of customer service that was set for us early adopters that made up for any deficiencies at the time and will make everything else customer service wise feel like crap.

If anyone is planning a trip to Alaska next spring/summer, I’ll sell them my GFC on my 5ft bed taco. I’m in Haines.

What are your primary reasons for wanting to sell?

i got it for my big road trip, which i cut short to live in Haines for the winter. But now i have a life here and don't need something that is several thousand dollars on top of my truck. I'd like to put that towards a down payment on a house LOL. I can do just fine with a hardtop or Softopper from here on out.

Also, I would rather not have that camper on my truck for other reasons that are all over this thread, including my own personal dealings with GFC. The camper does have issues that are not getting addressed even in new campers coming out. But people are still ordering, so i figure someone will buy as long as they know what's up.

What issues are you having that are not be addressed on the new campers if I may ask?
I have one being built and am contemplating just selling it and not dealing with the issues to begin with. I ask about the hinges, rust, and condensation they said all those are pretty much solved minus the condensation issue but I'm so lost to what actual number the new campers began on and who writing a riew on a old on or upgraded as gfc states

one specific issue i can think of is water coming into the space frame tube and dripping from the main bolts. this has nothing to do with sealing. I spoke to one of the owners in person about this and the answer was something like "not much we can do about it." so they know, but aren't addressing it.

I suggest that you go over to the GFC forum for the latest information. This thread has become infested with trolls and has become useless.

I’m still jealous. Colorado is cool but it’s got nothing on Alaska and I can’t wait to go back.

You're sick and probably not have much of a life with ~68000 posts. Man, that quantity of posts must not leave you much time for anything useful or interesting. Obsessive/ compulsive behavior?:alien:

You need new material. We know you’re good at memorization, no need to keep trying to impress.

You guys and your ceaseless need to write off everything as hatred or trolling benefits NOBODY, and hurts more than that. Someone coming for information that is plainly and publicly available, despite GFCs attempts to stifle it and contain it, is no less effectively sourced from this forum than any other. The GFC forum, only until recently, has been the most belligerent example of confirmation bias and go with the flow hype I’ve seen in quite a while.

No manufacturer sponsored forum is ever to be considered the honest authority. To continue to push everybody there under the guise of this forum fabricating lies is harmful, irresponsible, and a farce.

Argue that all you want, delete all the posts you want (ahem..), the facts are here regardless.

Feel free to show me how beneficial you are in this thread.
