    Hell yeah @Jtc9 !!
Post pics! cant wait to see you kicked back on your swinging couch roasting marshmallows while your gfc floats above your head.
At least venting the smoke from your fire won’t be an issue as your doors would have already ripped off at this point im sure. And when you need to put the fire out, just dump the rusty water from your leaking front or rear tubes on it and put that sucker right out.

Sound like a solid build plan. Nice work

How about a comma or a period?
Or any punctuation for that matter. Could be useful for him too

I personally am a big fan of the double enter

I like a space between thoughts

    Periods and commas are overrated

Effective communication does not necessarily mean following grammar, spelling and punctuation rules. It means the reader or listener can clearly comprehend the ideas expressed.

In this case, I have no idea what the hell just happened other than the thread was derailed which was probably the point:bananadead:

Now someone looking for actual useful information will just have to wade through more inane bs, including this post.

Yes this thread has really been invigorated now. It’s been great, and we’ve certainly had some laughs. Either way I applaud anyone who wants to tackle a cool build but sometimes things don’t work out quite how we plan. Trust me I’ve been there too. I still think the GFC is a good product but it’s a “utilitarian” design suited to a more spartan build out. It’s tough, well except for the hinges, but the frame is super strong but as I mentioned about 5 pages back now, it’s just a truck cap and a RTT, that’s it. Works awesome for what it is but don’t try to make it something it’s not. One of the things about the GFC that bothered me the most is the panels and having to move them around and store them when I wanted to “live” in the back. My Khaya, the drifter, Snap! Treehouse, and the Canopy camper all have a bed that just tilts up and out of the way. It’s much more practical.

I am far from a full time #vanlifer as I have other responsibilities but I spent 3 straight weeks last year in the Southwest and learned a lot about what makes things livable, hence me changing platforms.

Also whoever quotes weights for the Khaya about 3 pages back that is WAY wrong... my Khaya comes in at 1100lbs loaded up. Keep in mind it has a 12V water heater, indoor sink and stove, shower, 22 gallon water tank, 270degree awning, outdoor shower with privacy curtain, TONS of pockets and storage, LED lights in every cabinet, heck it even has a diesel powered forced air furnace with outside combustion. I even added a real toilet this winter for a few upcoming very remote trips to the desert with my wife.

Setting up a GFC like that just isn’t practical. When I started adding up things, I looked into hot water systems and stoves going into drawers ext, and figured it was just time to bail on the plan. Anyone who follows this thread or any truck camper thread just needs to figure out what works best for them and fits in the constraints of a budget and needs. It’s so great there are options for anyone who wants to go light and fast Offroad, or take the more comfortable approach but be a bit more limited so to weight and size. There’s space for everyone....

I bought mine expecting a hard shell RTT and a shell and it is exactly what I wanted. If you are expecting something fancy you will be disappointed. But for what it is, it is unmatched at the price point.

You can type the word FUCK on TW, we’re all cool with it. Honest. I do hope your build goes well and I am looking forward to to. Those Topper-Ez-Lifts are cool and you’ll certainly be a pioneer. I personally wish you the best and am very much looking forward to seeing it. I will say I see a lot of Full Timers ditch trucks for big vans pretty quick though.

That said I have a very good friend who has lived FT in a Jeep Wrangler with a family of 3 for 7 years. (Jeepsies on IG if anyone is interested) they make it work and are very happy. It should be noted they own a small RV as well. He’s retired Coastguard so has a pension and healthcare so they’re free to go anywhere. We always catch up a few times a year but they love it and make it work. My point if three can live in a Jeep, one can certainly live in a Taco.
