Great post! Just one more question.

How much dust gets in past those side doors?

The factory truck bed itself lets a ton of dust in also...

I’m thinking about selling my snug top rebel and going with go fast camper!

I do hate it. Or more specifically, I hate the hole underneath it.

It’s really not. I can get mine smaller than the fin with a stubby or relocate it so it’s just the base. Either way they all suck.

Thats the solution I think we are going with, the stubby antennae. I just meant the factory one is worse.

Would’ve been nice if they just stuck with the little puck style antenna on the roof like my 2011.

    Just the basics
Can the fin be replaced with the pre-fin version? On my 09 it is a much shorter rounded square piece.

I was wondering about this also.
The bed is 90" long and if you remove a 25" panel that leaves 65" (5' 5"). You can't get your head all the way up to the hinge. I'm guessing you would need to be shorter than 5' to sleep on that side. What if they split that panel into two (25" x 10" and 25"x 15"). That way you could remove the 15" one and have 75"(6'3") of space with a 25"x15" door to drop down though at night. How tall a person could fit on that 75" platform?

Hey @gmacmt , I was planning on getting a Stubby Jr antenna to go on my Colorado.

Have you confirmed the GFC will work on the 2015+ Colorados with a 2" Stubby Jr? Or something smaller if you've found one?

Might be that someone has commented already, but radio reception is usually from the horizon, while XM is usually from up above.

Graeme or Wiley can correct me if I'm wrong, but from my emails with Graeme about my order he said they will be designing it around a stubby antennae. He never specified which version, but I would assume the Jr. is the version is what they will be using. I expressed my intention to keeping the design tight to the roof line. If you measure out a stubby plus the base at about a 60° angle you get about 2.5-3 inches from the roof line. That puts the potential design at roughly 3.5-4 inches from the roof to compensate for movement of the bed and camper. We'll have to see the final Taco design and then compare to the Rado one. They should be pretty similar in height. The Rado base is roughly 1-1/4" from the roof line. The only other idea I had to get around it is to machine out a notch where the antenna is, but that depends on the wall thickness of the camper and if that would make it a weak point for the camper as whole. Last thing you want is a crack to propagate there.

    RE: COLORADO STUBBY ANTENNAE

The current plan is to design around the stubby jr. It seems to be the best balance between getting the height optimized, price, radio reception and ease of install. All campers are specifically designed for the truck they are going on, so there is no universal fit/cab rake/overall height etc.

I have a Stubby Jr. on order to install on a truck at the dealer, and I can pull measurements and keep you all up to date. Good to know the Colorado guys are watching. Its a neat platform, excited to see one of these together.

If the stubby unit is an integral part of the GFC camper fit, we will probably go ahead and have some in inventory to ship with the camper unit so install/procurement is easy.
