PRO: For 99.7% of the time, it works great.
CON: For 99.7% of the time, I'm convinced there's 14 different things wrong with it and its gonna blow any moment now. Thanks TW...

honestly. it is forums like that that fuel my imagination. for most of my life, I drove and maintained my cars happily. I never looked for the boogie man.
call it blissful ignorance, if you want.

its real life truck stuff that bums me out. like how I kinda want a boat now. haha.. a tundra would have been a step closer. I am not worried my paint is gonna flake off in a stiff wind.

example. the whiney ass rear diff. I never really heard it until I read about it here. haha...

    its all gonna be alright.

    Check build thread!
Pros: more capable than it has any right to be, has been fairly reliable, tows better than people give it credit for. Overall I like the interior design, I think it strikes a good balance of modern touches with old school physical buttons and knobs. Has a true suicide door unlike Chevy's full size half door weird abomination, it's been fairly reliable. Plenty of aftermarket support. Looks sweet.

Cons: some weird design choices. Tack welding nuts inside of the cross member for skid plates to mount to (that then immediately come in welded at the smallest impact and become the bane of my existence). Cartridge oil filter. Pain in the ass to change spark plugs. Lack of transmission dipstick. Driveline vibes and poorly designed front differential seals. Lack of vinal option. Smallish fuel tank.

    I’ll play:

Pro: It has done everything I’ve asked it to do for ~8 years with zero repairs and self maintenance.

Con: I really want something newer and bigger, but there’s not a darn thing wrong with my taco to justify the spend.

Con: less agile than a 2 door wrangler.

PRO : I love the way this truck looks , I really like the analog gauges and knobs and the simple layout of the cab , the classic grey cloth seats , all the old school SR5 stuff and the way the v6 sounds when im giving it the beans on a back country road . I honestly just dig this truck , every time I drive it , it puts a smile on my face . CON : don’t love the cartridge oil filter , I wish it shifted like my 5th gen 4Runner , I do get a little nervous about the dreaded cylinder imbalance showing up , mostly thanks to spending so much time on TW lol. My friends keep telling me to get the hell off the forum and enjoy my truck

My thoughts exactly, my manual pro I love for rowing gears but my 4th gen 4runner runs laps around the tacoma in so many ways, V8 (duh), added hidden features, center arm rest, door courtesy lights, hood insulation/struts, rear AC, overall fit and finish the list goes on.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I'm usually a sucker for bare bones vehicles, but ventilating cooled seats would be so nice to have during summer days.

I rented multiple vehicles with them and found it nice to have.

    Pro:
Even being noticeably bigger than my old '90 SR5 X-tra Cab, it is still easy to maneuver most anywhere I've taken it. Manual Transmission. I love the looks of it. Power is fine, with a tune, and staying a bit higher in the revs. LOTS of goodies to build to needs and tastes (I refer to it as my real world Lego toy!). It's been very reliable the whole time I've had it.

    Con:
Whoever it was that chose the 1st and Reverse gears in the transmission should be brought before a firing squad. More difficult to enter and exit than my old SR5 (always have to tuck my head to do it). Shin clearance over the clutch pedal is less than ideal - I scrape my thin old skin on the bottom of the dash pretty regularly. Lack of oil pressure and voltage gauges.
