No, but it does have heated mirrors. :)

The major show stoppers is backup camera, and heated seats. Both Tacoma and Frontier have these. I can live without a backup sensor, heated side mirrors.
I just wish the JBL came with the TRD sport. I even asked the dealer if Toyota could do a custom build. They said no.

The 2014's are out. Doesn't look like the Tacoma has changed much, except the backup camera is now in the dash instead of the rear mirror.
But haven't seen the 2014 Frontier yet, or know what changes may come.

Forgive me if I missed something, but I have a JBL audio in my TRD-OR. Like you I don't care for the chrome mirrors of an unlimited or even color matched ones for that matter. But, I usually am content with a stock stereo, and just try to get the best one they offer. So, are they only offering the JBL in the unlimited and nothing else, or is it just the sport they're not offering it in?

Interesting. I just got a 2008 TRD Sport DC and it has the JBL audio with 6-disc CD changers. Next step is getting a way to plug an iPhone into it...

That's right, JBL in Limited only, in Canada. I think the US Tacoma's have an Entune upgrade to JBL and Sat. Radio on any model/package?
I suppose I could either live with the Stock, or do an aftermarket upgrade to the audio.
Plus the Limited takes away the hood scoop. I like the hood scoop! :D

And just to add further to the thread, the 2013 Tacoma with TRD Sport Package comes out to invoice $32,557 CAD
The 2013 Frontier Pro4x with Metallic paint comes out to invoice $32,697 CAD
    So price isn't a factor.

I have a Tacoma and My Mother drives a Frontier and I will say that in my opinion the only thing her frontier has on my Tacoma is there bed and there bed rails. I have strapped a lot of stuff down on my truck and always cringe when I tighten down the ratchet straps her bed rail system in her truck is BEEF:eek:.

Well, that totally sucks. Yeah, pretty much most models can get the entune/nav. Not sure if you could get a base model with it, maybe you could. But you should be able to get it in all the standard models, sport, OR etc. Tell 'em you want an American Tacoma... if they try to counter with anything less than ok, just keep repeating; "Murica" .... "Murica"

    :D

Ummm what? I JUST bought one a month or so ago from Pattison Toyota downtown Vancouver and the TRD sport DCLB came out to $37k and change. WTF? is that price non 4x4 or?

    EDIT

My mistake, it was basically a hair under $36k

You are very welcome! Glad this thread could help you out. Even though it looks like we will go for different trucks at least we were able to get a great deal of information about both from two different forums / sources :)

Goto unhaggle.com and price one out for yourself.
Its invoice, not MSRP on a 2013.
Invoice on a DC is $28025, plus $4532 for the TRD package. (non leather)
    That works out to $32557.

This does not include all the BS crap the dealers add on like bug deflectors, undercoating, etc. etc.
Typically you should pay about 3% above invoice. Plus PDI, tire, AC tax and then gov tax. Maybe an admin fee if you are financing.

What was your out the door price?

One thing the Frontier has going fit it is the premium touches like a sunroof, dual zone climate control, and a leather interior (the Tacoma's pleather is atrocious).

And the end of the day, those things weren't enough to get me in a Frontier. Toyota quality (though it's reached unreasonable mythic proportions these days) and a good aftermarket community meant I could get the premium touches I wanted as and get that new truck feeling with every new mod year after year.

Not sure where you are in BC but I went to 4 different dealers in Vancoucer and they WOULD NOT budge on price! I paid full. Out the door it was a hair under $41k with all taxes , PDI, Freight and other environmental fees and all the other bullshit. It almost turned me off buying a Toyota, but then I thought that if they can be that way it's because there is a huge demand which means it's for a reason, cause they are great trucks.

My earlier post was just to provide comparison between the Frontier and Tacoma. Strictly on invoice only.
Buying geographic is different in all regions.

    Too long to list :D
Can also just bypass it all together. The autos already have a beefy secondary trans cooler, the radiator pass through is just to help heat the trans fluid faster in freezing conditions. Just like the coolant that runs through the throttle bodies on Toyota"s/Nissan"s :)

The rear leafs on my 2010 Tacoma flattened after about 30,000 miles. All city/highway driving with only an A.R.E. shell and a couple mountain bikes on/in the bed. Tacomas are notorious for this - check out the suspension forums. If you want the truck to last you need to figure the price of suspension mods to the total cost. I paid about $2k to get an ARB OMETACO5LK suspension installed. There are cheaper options out there, though. Doubt that I'll buy another Tacoma. I'll probably get a full sized truck that is built like a TRUCK from the git-go so I don't have to **** around with mods.

Don't feel bad about paying full, its pretty common here. I paid full price back in June from Valley. They initially offered free accessories, but I ended up negotiating up the price they offered on my trade, so in the end I was happy.

I test drove a Tacoma and Nissan with MT. I liked Nissan in MT better, but it felt like an early Chinese car on the interior. Hopefully with a URD short shifter my new Tacoma MT will be a bit more tolerable.

Do you mean to say you test drove them in Montana?
