I have a mechanic that has done some basic work on my truck but is only available on weekends and doesn't have much time to mess around with mods and has a pretty old school approach so doesn't have very much enthusiasm for messing with my truck - not a bad thing.
I was wondering if any of you have some solid, honest, not gonna rape my wallet cause I am a chick mechanics in the Bay Area.. Particularly the South Bay?

What exactly do you need to get done? Maybe wait for a mod day and we can all help out?

Or, George at SWAT is legit

There is an actual 'Mod Day' that you guys have?! If so, that is frickin' brilliant!
Not really anything set in stone that I want to get done right away.
I want to change out my header in the semi-near future and possibly have some fun changing around my exhaust/muffler. I have a fresh air intake box waiting in the garage for me to put the deck plate mod into me that I haven't gotten around to attempting on my own.. I really don't think I would need a 'professional' to pull that off - I do want to have a relationship with the insides of my truck after all, haha.
I looked up SWAT.. that seems like the place for any suspension mods huh.

Yeah, for modifications its definitely best to DIY, possibly with the assistance of other TW members. Watch the norcal forum for them to be announced.

Hey Sonia, Like these guys said... Keep an eye out for a mod day. Also i have a friend that does auto body and his uncle works as a mechanic for capitol toyota here in San Jose and he also works on toyotas on the side.

I was going to take my truck to him for an oil change but he was out of town. So i don't have personal experience with him (yet) but i will.

So if you want his contact info, just let me know.

    ...too much shit to list.
I can help with the install if you've got you're lift purchased already. I'm in San Jose as well so it'll be a short drive to my house.
We could even do a super mini mod day if anyone else has stuff to do.

Any mechanic is only as good as their mistakes. I took my truck to Capitol Toy for a tire mounting. Simple job, don't need high level of skill for that job. Well, the friggin idiot mechanic pumped my tires to 55psi!!! I was pissed as I could have blown a tire. He probably pumped it up to set the bead and forgot to deflate to normal psi. The only way I found out was when I took my truck in for an alignment, the tech records the tire psi.

Alpha. I hope it wasn't your friend's uncle who worked on my truck.

Check out Yelp also. It's one of the best resources for consumer's reviews.

    I am a honest mechanic.
If there isn't bolts left over after the job, I must have did it wrong!

I have been going here for years and I have known the owner for about 15 years. He is a stand up guy who does honest, reasonably priced work.
