I’m not sure how lowering the RPMs helps reducing emissions when the engine is constantly bogging and getting worse MPG but I guess it satisfies something the government wants. The one thing I don’t like about ECT is it makes the torque converter lock up harder and the shifting gets a bit clunky. But that’s totally acceptable because it’s basically tow/haul mode so I get it. My truck has the older ECM software and people have been completely raving about the new software, so hopefully I’ll get that done and be happy without ECT on.

I also noticed 91 octane yields the best mpg too.

265/70/17 Wildpeaks and everything else is stock on my 21’ Offroad. I get between 15 and 17mpg average. I drive up mount hood every weekend to snowboard and daily drive it to work about 30 miles a day. I drive like a race car most of the time and usually about 70mph freeway travel. Hopefully that info helps. I also only run the cheapest gas I can find which is usually 89 from Walmart.

Everyone puts e rated tires not c rated. The extra weight is a killer. Stick to a c rated if you want the mpgs. Won’t fix it but will help big time.

    1. With a 3/1 level/lift and 33s I got 19.5ish in the summer/fall months and around 18 in winter/spring.
    2. I had a 2016 and it always hunted for gears. Got a little better over time.

What? Man, i noticed no difference in mpgs after i took it off. i still get advertised hwy mpgs even on 265/70/17 C load AT tires.

Toyota advertises same mpgs for sport and OR, unless one is a manual of course.

You probably need a bigger truck for that commute.

You get 13 mpg city? Damn. How come?

    I get 17-17.5 easily, 265/70/17 C load KO2s.

AT tires, full skids, two plate bumpers, winch, a lot of weight. Sometimes I get 15mpg city, depends on traffic, etc.

In today’s news OP found the perfect truck. 30 mpg, 2wd, and a cool factor that is akin to a Raptor.

When it was summer and temps were above 70 degrees i saw numbers very close to that. Truck is all stock, except for a little larger goodyear a/t tires.

If your commute is like 90% hwy than i can see that, i can get very close to that with my manual on AT tires.

Guys post all these high numbers but are not clear how they achieved it.

Seems like if you drive 50% city 50% hwy, the real world number usually is around 18 on not too modified taco. I think thats quite good for a heavy truck thats high off the ground.
