Im at 220,000km/136,000 miles now but just accepted a new position that's going to be adding between about 50,000km a year +. So I'll be 320,000 - 350,000 in 2 years and that's starting to get a little high for my comfort. Plus i travel in remote areas often where there's not a whole lot between me and the next place but bears, moose and shitty roads. Just starting to think about what's my next purchase.

Take your pick with whatever you want to drive, put a 100-120,000 mile warranty on it, trade for another every 4 years or so, rinse and repeat.

Every new engine had issues. Even land cruiser engines, even 4runner engine in its first years. The big 5.7L Tundra V8 too did have LOTS of issues at first, but then it smoothed out.

However, one thing different this time is the price how much newer toyotas cost and full of bs like tailgate buttons you dont need, and big fat tv screen. That's the only difference really, reliability wise I guess in some cases yea, because newer cars are made to be traded in/out, not kept for long anyway.

I don't have a 4th gen so i don't have an opinion to discuss but if I ever buy a 4th Gen Tacoma I'll be browsing around the 4th gen section trying to keep up with the new hip lingo and trends so i can pretend to be one of the cool kidz.

That translates roughly into 75 miles a day, for 5 days a week work commute. 18,000/12months/4weeks/5days
32.5 miles or half an hour one way drive to work. Reasonable, as far as I am concerned.
