Not to be a cynic, but you were honest.... he wasn't.
He sold you the tire at 50%... and submitted the cut tire to BFG or Discount's warranty underwriter.

You did the right thing, and he made $100 pure profit

 

I still have the tire.

Why isn't it in 2nd Gen?

 

I think my relationship with my local tire shop is more important to me than trying to get away with a free tire...I'm sure they would have looked up the sizes and known it was different anyway when doing the warranty paperwork.

 

I have never suffered for being honest, Glad to see others benefit from it as well.
