Alright, so I've seen these newer tacos with 3M hood black out vinyls and I was trying to find one for my 1996 Tacoma. Can anybody help me?

Maybe could try plastidip, I was thinking of doing this to mine later down the road.

Or just scuff it and paint it with some rattle cans. I'm sure if you find a place that does car wraps near you they will be able to put a black vinyl on hood.

I've already rattle canned my hood. I want a vinyl to cover over the flaws in the paint job.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
Vinyl will not cover any surface flaws beyond what paint would do. The surface has to feel smooth when the prep is finished. If you can feel a bump or a dip, it will show through vinyl or paint.

Vinyl wrap is also fairly expensive, but there are many options like 3d patterns.

I'd be interested in trying the plasti derp idea first

but if it's already rattle canned...
I would just re-prep and paint dat chit

I did the plastic dip on the hood as a temporary quick fix and is looked bad. I used the rattle can and it may have been a little to windy but what a pain trying to get it off. I can't afford a paint job on a truck I'm just gonna scratch up on trails so. I am going with the 3m scotch print 3d carbon fiber in black for my hood and roof. I had seen the YouTube vids on how to apply it to a car but when my roommate went for it for his BMW I got to try it. super easy, you will need a heat gun (blow dryer is fine too), razor, plastic scraper.
The BMW came out so awesome I'm going to do my hood and roof as the paint it shot. Just need to get a few checks past Christmas!

I will say if you paint the hood you need to take it off. Rattle cans have horrible overspray and will add an unwanted texture and color.

I got a local sign shop to make a 24"x18" Toyota decal and I'm going to put it on the center of my hood. Think it will look good?

I don't know how much he spent but you can get it on eBay like my roommate did cheap. Rolls come in various lengths, widths and price. They even have different color carbon fiber wraps. The 3m scotch print is probably the best but also the most expensive. My roommate got his from JDM Bestboy on eBay and it was just as good, just as easy, and cheaper
