hey guys, searched the board extensively on this but seems to only come up with a hood vibration issue which I am not seeing. I have noticed that the slightest amount of pressure on the hood, for example leaning over it to dry it or dry the windshield will flex and dent the hood. A lot of times the dent is very temporary and just pops right back out when the pressure is released but once I have had to have a dent pulled already. Is this normal on these 3rd gens that the hood metal is so thin it indents like this so easily or could there be a structural issue with my underside of the hood? I can’t take it to the “VIP” car wash my Dad bought me tickets to for Christmas because the guys that come out to dry it just lean all over that sumbitch like they are gonna take a nap and scares the shit outta me. Any insights anyone? Normal? Issue? Thoughts?

There was an issue that popped up often on the forum a couple years ago. I think it was when the 3rd gens first came out? The grid of structural support pieces glued onto the bottom of the hood (with a black semi-pliable adhesive) came loose and separated from the overlying hood. There were visible gaps. You may want to check and see if this is happening on yours?

Search around the forum and you'll see some examples.

Well on the bright side in a couple of years they might have to change hood for everyone similar to how older Tacoma's are getting their frames replaced (throw in a scoop too). I'd say it's a win .

The sheet metal will "flex" even with the dryers at a carwash. However, if you are putting enough pressure on it to create a real "dent" well . . . . . Don't Do That!!!!!

Mine flexes a lot at the car wash, a bit on the highway. Adhesive issue and I am either getting it repaired or a new hood. Dealership is waiting to hear back from Toyota (under warranty)

My toaster flexes less than my hood! Frustrating but I've learned to stay off the hood at all costs. Going in for the hood re-glue soon, sort of hoping they screw it up and I can fanagle a sport hood. It looks good and I've heard the structure of it is far superior (most important).

Even with the new glue, that sheet metal is pretty thin. I'd say, always be careful pressing on it.

Just relish how sturdy our vehicles are now compared to 5 yrs. from now and they're all aluminum.

I see a '17 Ford running around town that belongs to a landscaper, it is beat all to hell and back again.
Seriously, like every foot is another dent. Even corners, the strongest area.

Or maybe after work he uses it as a backstop at the local softball field?:notsure:
