Hood insulator backwards?

    For those who have installed the hood insulation on 3rd Gen., does it make the Tacoma quieter?

    Not that I find the taco too loud, well, maybe sometimes....
    To my eyes, it just looks incomplete when the hood insulation isn't there. Making her quieter would factor into my decision of giving into my OCD and installing it. I mean, it's bad enough that the engine cover is positioned toward the drivers side, thank goodness I just open the hood for cleaning and maintenance.

    Install sound-deadening stuff inside the cab; floor, sides, doors, and roof. That will make the biggest improvement in quieting the cab.

    Mine is the same...of course, we have TRD Sport models. Looks like the TRD OR/4R has the insulation.

    Nope. My TRDOR has no hood insulation.

    The hood insulation appears to be strictly a 4Runner thing. Toyota doesn't recommend it for the Tacoma.
