My hood latch is not cooperating. The little hoop will go into the spot where the lock is, but the lock won't move so my hood won't lock.

    Please help.

Something is either seized (cable/hinge), or maybe the springfell out?

Well I just had it bathing in WD40 for a half hour, and all the springs are there...

Does your cable under the steering wheel actuate the latch?

First, give it a few good soakings in WD-40, Liquid Wrench, or whatever your preferred penetrating oil is. Next, work the action with a screwdriver. Push the side of the screwedriver down into the mechanism. Make a note of any parts are catching. Once fully engaged, spray again with some penetrating oil. Then release (using the release switch inside the cab) and keep working it/releasing it while lightly spraying it at different parts of the movement.

Try it and get back to us.

More than I can shake a stick at...
This happened to me once. I had taken off the panel that the latch handle is attached to in the cab. Upon re-installation, I accidentally got the cable twisted. I took it back off and un-twisted it, wha la. Hope this helps.

Yeah just hose it with pb blaster, and let it sit a day.

Hmm maybe. Maybe try pb blaster or another penetrating lubricant. Works much better than wd40 in my experience.

I don't know how you guys are doing this, but it's damn near impossible for me to push this latch down with a screwdriver

Actually. The little hoop is ending up just in front the lock.

I bent the mechanism so the hoop will go in there now, but now the lock won't go over the hoop. It's pressing it down but it won't snap over. ?

somehow you got to manually pop the latch at the mechanism with a screwdriver to get it to operate this happened to me but I cant remember exactly where you pop it at, I know I used a screwdriver to reach in the mechanism, once u pop it the hood will then close and lock and the release latch in the cab will work, but you have to have the screwdriver to pop the mechanism everytime. I finally found out the cable was bound up and shot some oil into the wire casing and it became ok from then on.

no you got to manually pop that spring mechanism where the cable attachs with a screw driver then the hood will lock, the cable gets bound up in the protection sleeve and will not unlock mechanism
