Noticed that my hood sits just a little lower than my fenders for the first time with my taco last night. Now that I noticed it, it drives me crazy.

    Is this common?

The entire hood is lower, even near the windshield. Would that help?

Lol I'm not getting rid of it. Just curious if this is common or if I messed something up doing something up or if this can be adjusted.

If it's common, oh well I go on about my life. If it can be adjusted, okay great. I get it adjusted.

I'm about to go in work so really don't have time for pics. It's just 1-2mm lower than the top of the fender hardly noticeable unless youre looking for it

I have the same thing with my hood. I did a quick adjustment to the front by spinning the little bumpers up a turn or so till it was good. I have not yet taken the time to look at adjusting the back at all. I did not notice any of the bumper pads near the back. I have had to adjust the hood on other vehicles but I cannot say I have ever tried or needed to on a Toyota. I can not even be sure they can be adjusted, as I have not looked or tried.

If the hinges can be adjusted, as many other vehicles can be, it will take several steps:
    • Measuring the height gap while closed (may be different on each side)
    • Mark current hing position on truck
    • Mark new desired position based on measurement
    • Loosen hinge
    • Raise hinge to the new position
    • Secure hinge
    • Repeat for other side
    • Close and check alignment
    • Repeat as needed to gain desired position
    • Properly torque bolts
    • Enjoy your properly positioned hood that no longer torments your OCD senses.

The hood stops are adjustable on almost all cars for this exact reason.

Just unscrew the stops a 1-2mm up until hood is flush.

My hood sits flush back towards the windshield but does sit a little low towards the front, just haven't got around to adjusting the rubber bumpers yet, no big deal...

Maybe a washer (or 2) can fix the issue near the windshield?

Since the hood is quite a bit larger than the fenders, it is perfectly logical that the hood might not flush with the fenders.

The toilet pictured below would probably be able to handle the fenders one at a time, but the hood is definitely too big.

However, if you already tried to flush the hood with the fenders, you might need this:

    Work in progress...
Hecho en Mexico, not all bad, I realigned my bed easy enough and tried to get worried about the hood but gave up. Couple of tequilas, no worries.

    Gotta perform the marble test.

Roll a marble down the gap line between the fender and hood. If it lines up the marble will stay in the line. If not it’ll fall out and roll away...

    Works on Mercedes and BMWs.
