Does anyone know if the hood alert turns off on the dash if the vehicle is off? I was working on my headlights and left the hood open overnight. Hopefully my battery doesn’t drain too much.

Yes, it turns off. Takes 10-15 minutes. You can close the hood latch with a screwdriver to 'fake' a closed hood (the switch is built into the latch). Just make sure to open it with the hood release before dropping the hood.

Thanks for the info on the 10-15 min timeout on the dash display.
I tried sticking a screwdriver in to the hood latch assembly and it kept slipping - apparently it needs a hella lot of pressure to get the latch/switch to rotate.
I can live with this while having a Battery Tender charger clamped to the battery posts.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
Is there a way to make use of this "feature" to switch on an under hood light for night time needs? Some sort of wiring harness and a relay to power for the lighting perhaps
