So I was so happy to take delivery on my long awaited Tacoma. I didn’t see it in the dealers inspection bay. After I got home and under my garage led lighting I can see. Streaking across the front corner of my hood. It appears it’s underneath the clear coat.

Are digging in here there appears to be a TSB on the plastic RAPGARD they use during shipping.

BUT the TSB is through the years 2017-2022. Shit!!! I made aware
of This to the dealer after I get. I take it in for service adviser to look at it.

Has anybody have this issue on their 2023 Tacoma’s ?

I hate the fact that the hood will need to be repainted.

given the other thread you replied has very little overall activity and hasn't been updated in 3 years(up until now), I'd say "no"

It’s moisture under the clear coat. You’ll need to take a heat gun on low setting and go over the white streaking slowly. It’s going to take FOREVER if you want it gone right away, if you live in a hot climate then leave the truck out this summer and it’ll go away in a couple months.

Try this before you get the hood repainted. My dealer offered to repaint mine as well but I tried this first. Repainting a brand new vehicle could introduce a lot of other issues. The TSB for the rapgard literally says to use a heat lamp to get rid of the stains, I’d do it myself vs having a dealer do it.

I had a similar issue on my hood when picking up my new Tacoma in February of 2022. One of the techs at the dealer took a look and determined it was wax from the protective cover in shipping. He took a buffer with a soft wheel and buffed it out!
But!!! I have come across clear coat crazing at two other areas on the truck. About 3/4” in size! This is really concerning me. Wondering if any one else is experiencing simpler pair issues?

As said heat gun will take care of this issue. It is from water under protective shipping wrap. The wonder of today water base paints. So, no need for repaint.

I seriously doubt it's under the clear coat whatever it is. Either way, you should be able to polish it out with a random orbital polisher, rupes pad and some compound from Jescar or Sonax. Otherwise, find a professional detailer to take care of it.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
    Toyota says this is normal.

for real though… don’t jump into a repaint. Give it a few months and see what happens. If there is truth to the sun helping clear it up then don’t wax it either as that will prevent the sun from doing its thing and trap the (potential) water from getting out of there.

It not under the clear. The clear milked out from water being trapped under the shipping protective wrap. Heat gun or hot sun will correct it. My brother in law owns a body shop, that services a lot of dealer. He get quite a few of theses in from the dealers. Heat guns them, or if there's a lot of areas. He pulls in spray booth a turn on bake mode.

Ahh, this isn't a blemish in the paint. It's a blemish in the wrap...

It in the clear coat, caused by water getting under the shipping wrap.

Yea my hood doesn’t look like that it’s more like a clear scuff mark couple lines about two feet long sweeping across the front right corner of the hood. It’ll try to get a picture. It’s hard to see straight on. But it’s there.

Here’s a picture of it on the low across angle and one directly over top of it. You can’t see on the over head view.

No one here will be able to help you with this issue. It's a brand new truck, the only person that can help you is the service dude at toyota.

I had some light scuff marks above the driver headlight that I didn't notice until I got it home. I told my salesman who contacted the service manager. When I took it in, the service manager told me it was strap damage from shipping that they missed during prep for me to take delivery. They buffed it out and all is good.

Glad you got it worked out.
