Lifted up the hood for the first time since taking ownership a week and a half ago. I recall seeing in a few posts some have installed pneumatic? hood risers to assist in lifting/holding/supporting the hood.

Are these just bolt on? Or is drilling/modification required? I replaced the old ones in my '98 Avalon about 5 years ago, but those were already there, just a swap.

Any specific brands/models recommended by the TW community? Thanks.

    these

    I have them. work great.

ONE SUPER IMPORTANT POINT WHEN INSTALLING.
don't make my mistake. Use a stop collar on the drill bit lol.
I screwed up on one. From pushing hard for it to drill through, and when it did go through it hit the hood. Didn't come through as I stopped right away but in just the right sun and angle you can see a tiny tiny bump, almost like a reverse stone chip.

Barely noticeable, but still just use a stop collar so you don't go too far.

Since no drilling was specified look at Sokie Tech. Very easy install. Simply remove and reinstall two fasteners on each side.

Running sokietech here. No drilling. No issues. There's a thread on here. Search it for more details. Can always go back to OEM without any holes.

Redline Elite here. Hot tip is to put painter's tape on the drill bit so you know when to stop.

You'll need a rivet gun for the hood brackets. If you don't want to use tools then Redline might not be the kit for you.
