I wouldnt recommend doing this install yourself if you don't have any experience with this type of work. It is very tricky getting the hole cut out of the scoop without damaging other areas or cutting into the paint where you shouldn't. other than trimming out the scoop, its fairly easy to do the rest. Hopefully some of the others who have done the install will give their opinion.

Were you able to adjust the light to close up that gap on the backside of hood scoop? I've run into the same issue.

Finally got around to installing this great bracket and light....really, as long as you take some time while cutting out what needs to be cut, you'll be fine. I've NEVER wired anything into any vehicle, and I was able to figure it out. So yeah. Thanks again to C4 Fabrication, and Avec Lighting!

Forgive the sketchy photos, my phone is not cooperating!

If I do decide to buy this kit, would an auto body shop be able to install it if I gave them the instructions? Is that possible? Because I'm scared of messing something up during the install.

The supplied washers are supposed to help hold the scoop up from sagging and high enough to close the small gap between scoop and hood. Im sure not all installs will fit exactly the same on each truck, but I didn't end up with a gap on the setup I did. That is the unfortunate part about the plastic scoop on the 12+ Tacoma's. Once you cut out the opening in the scoop, there isn't much strength left in the plastic to hold itself up. I have not come up with a different way other than a couple washers to help hold it up. Some people probly wont notice or even care about the possible small gap where the scoop meets hood, but for those who this might bother, im not sure how to completely remedy the issue.

And thanks for posting pics grdgz97!

Im sure a body shop could handle the install. it really isn't hard, just tedious and takes a few hours. Just show the body shop the link to my instructions and they could look through them to see if its something they want to do.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliments! I just sold my last 5-11 bracket last week, but I have more on order from the laser company so I should have them soon.

    Hi Caleb,

So I ended up trading my 13 Taco for a 15 4Runner. The 4Runner has a similar, useless, hood scope. I was wondering if your kit would fit the 4Runner? If not, do you have one specifically for the 4Runner? I may need to buy my 3rd kit! ;)

I have not had the opportunity to try and fit the newest style 4runner's so I don't know for sure if the kit would work.

..by the way you phrased that..

does that mean youve already had the opportunity to try and fit the older style 4runner?

ha, actually there is another member on this forum that im talking to right now about fitting a bracket kit to his 09 4runner. This would be the same bracket kit used for the 05-11 Tacoma. I'm about 99% sure it will work, but don't want to advertise it until I know for sure.
