Hey guys, I am working with a company that designs emergency vehicle lighting and also under cover cop lighting. After designing a few grill and headliner bars I decided to try and toss a few on my Taco. I have never been very happy knowing that my hood scoop is there for nothing more than looks and decreasing my gas mileage so I decided to try and install a few super bright take down LED light modules behind the grill. I took enough pictures to do a how to write up but I want to see what you guys think before I spend the time writing one up.

I think they look great, someone on here mounted a Rigid light bar like that, some liked, some didnt it's all up to you in the end.

its ok, but not much of a "take down" light since it is so low, and a strobe in there would look bad IMO. its a good offroad light though! i like that you cant see them, and thats what i would use it for.

Did you check the local laws about lighting. Looks like a good way to get stopped or get a ticket.

    Agreed.

OP. you gonna do a write up on them? I would like to see how they are mounted, wiring isnt an issue, more interested in mounting options.

Looks pretty cool and creative. Think it would impact viability being right on the hood?

I was thinking of something similar. We have red, blue, amber, and white at the shop. I could easily set it up in red and get my EE to write up some firm ware to get the tracking back in forth. Though for something like this it would probably be best to use some LEDs that arent so bright.

I only called it a "take down" light because I used "take down" modules from a roof mount light made for police vehicles. I am not proposing that it be used as such. I just thought it would be cool for offroad lighting, hanging out on the beach, or blinding my friends when they cut me off.

    Not intended for on-road use.
