Actually it does work. When rock crawling my temps have dropped quite a bit. I use the snorkel for my intake and the scoop works better for letting the warm air out of the engine compartment. You can even see the heat escaping when wheeling. But mine is open.

Actually, if it is open it can relieve underhood air pressure at highawy speeds. I've done that before on fiberglass hoods to settle them down, but the opening was to the rear.

Sweet! So do you really need all those lights just to get out and take a leak? It doesn't look like you ever wheel that thing :D

Has anyone looked into making the scoop functional? I will be picking up my DCab TRD Sport tomorrow at the dealer. Mine has the "FauxScoop"... Would be great to make it work... anyone??? And YES, I used the search function, but didn't come up with anything.

I wasn't even going to say anything! It's like switching dog food....eventually the dog will give up and actually eat it!

We were in the same boat but with our own damn dog! My wife just loved it a little too much and when I finally convinced her to put it in the bowl and wait....the dog finally came around. Funny thing is that here we are two years later and the dog still growls at the bowl before he eats so I am assuming he still isn't over it!!!

haha, like you should chime in..

all that money wasted on "additional traction that no other Tacoma has" when you could have just leased a basic SR5 model. in your case, you are paying additional money into your payments just to have bragging rights to brag about the awesomeness power of ATRAC and the electronic locker...something that you have not exactly truly truly truly experienced yet lol, something that you have not even come close in using to it's...... full potential..

you have the Off Road edition..exactly where do you "off road"? besides hard packed sandy beaches in mexico. Ocotillo Wells?.. been on the trail there with plenty of open/open diff vehicles that have had no problems getting around that region..again, money wasted on a model that is above your needs for "additional traction that no other Tacoma has". ..derp derp

    Have a great weekend

You can get a chinese repop hood on eBay for about $250 shipped, just gotta buy the insert and hardware. Then if you try to paint it yourself it'll only cost $50 in paint and a few hours of your time. If you mess up then take it to a pro but if you don't then you can save $1300 that's what I'm going to do this summer for my taco

So wrong^^^^....go to certifit or keystone and buy the hood for $97.50 then the scoop insert and paint thing. If done right....whole thing should not cost you more than $350.
