Did the 2.5 swap a few weeks ago but I'm just now getting around to opening the hood, but nothing happens when I pull the handle. I did buy an aftermarket hood like a dummy, but I did a test fit before I screwed it down and it was opening fine. Now that it's completely installed it won't open at all. I'm sure it's something quick and easy, but I'm probably too dumb to figure it out so here I am.

Latch is probably stuck. Pull the cable and have someone press down on the hood a few times. That doesn’t work try to shoot it with some WD40 or penetrating oil

Like was said above try that then adjust the bumpers on the front to keep from jamming the latch.

Thanks. I think I might be screwed, it's not budging. Might have to drill out the latch.

Try getting a helper to pull the hood release in the cab a few times and keep doing it or hold it while you apply upward pressure with your fingers pulling up on the front edge of the hood near the latch. If this doesn't work push down on the front edge of the hood a few times, then repeat the above.

I have had this problem on the wife's Volvo S70 for years. I have to pull the release (won't pop up) and then go around to the front and use upward pressure to get it to pop. Sometimes it takes two or three repeats.

If this doesn't work, before drilling it out, try crawling under the bumper and applying upward pressure to the underside of the hood with something that is long enough to reach it while the helper works the latch. (stick, short broom handle, snow brush handle, etc)
