I would be worried that with it sitting on the hood it would mess up the paint under it. That kind of defeats the purpose IMHO.

I’m all for doing what you want to your truck but adding to the the flat front space of our already so aerodynamic brick just doesn’t seem like a good idea.

I’ll withhold my opinion on the deflector.

WeatherTech and AVS are quality brands. Hooke is not.

I’d actually like to see someone install that if it were chrome. Just so that I could save that photo for future use.

this. but more importantly, the first question you need to be asking is "can i get replacement lights when they fail in 2 months?" most of the time, the answer is 'no'. some places will offer to replace the entire piece, meaning you need to hopefully remove the adhesive without damaging your paint, and hope that the replacement won't have the same issue. but with 3 lights, it's got a 1-in-3 times the number of individual led's used, to fail again.

i just plain think that the lighted bug deflectors are a mistake in the making, due to the added lighting complexity of them. i've always liked bug deflectors on certain vehicles, don't care for them on the tacoma, but everyone's different. i just think this is a 'bridge too far'

having a full hoops bumper is a better bug deflector than this and looks better

And there is no way to deflect all bugs

if you drive by a lot of bugs
Or long drive trip far, there will be bugs hitting your windshield. And the front of the truck regardless. To wash off before they become stuck and acidic.

So, it protects a couple inches of hood. But the whole rest of front-end gets chips. Senseless to me, besides ugly.

    Work in progress...
It kinda looks more like a light bar for the hood. Could come in handy for something, can't really think of anything right now but something...something real nice.

I hate the sticky tape installed on top of the paint. Problems in the future pealing paint off when removing the deflector other than that I think it would be great if it was installed like the other deflectors that screw under hood. just saying

I keep a good coat of Rain-X on the windshield and a fresh coat of wax on the hood. If you don't let the bugs bake in the sun, they come off rather easily.

this goofy thing would be more of a bug catcher, so I am guessing the OP is going for the Raptor lights look.
It's like a dead body, it's gross, but I had to go back and look at it again.
