Update after about a year of ownership.

for the price you can’t beat it. There are nicer racks out there for sure but for the amount of stuff I actually mount this rack works fine.

it’s heavy for a rack and the noise isn’t the best but with the rubber strip it was pretty good, although my truck is already pretty load going over 100 KM.

I mounted a awning ( into the square holes on the side, gun case and then I’ve loaded multiple loads of lumber and all has been good.

    All in all I’d recommend!

    cheers from Canada

If I get a raise at work does that mean I should sell my Hooke and get a Prinsu? Are there any good racks?
I don’t know what to think about the KC HiLites one

Hooke rack is useful but fuck is it ugly compared to Prinsu

it’s almost like devaluing the truck and not matching other mods by being so ugly
It’s like building the foundation wrong

Does this company make a rear high clearance bumper for 2nd gen Tacomas?Probably the only “armor” I would be willing to sacrifice build quality on

I bought the new version with the built in light bar about a month ago and just got around to installing it this past weekend. Assembly was pretty simple and straightforward. During my first drive it whistled like a tea kettle at anything over 15mph. I jammed a piece of pipe insulation between the front faring and the roof and that eliminated the whistling. There is some moderate wind noise but it's not unbearable, just turned the radio up a couple notched. So far I'm pretty happy with it.

    Hello,
This is going to sound like a total novice question, but, I'm a novice. And I've looked through 30+ pages of this thread and cannot find information on it.

How do you mount gear to this roof rack? Aside from using the Eye Hooks supplied. For instance: You want to mount a cargo box, or jerry can, or water can. Is there a specific bolt you all use?

    Thank you very much!

I mounted an awning using the brackets and bolts provided with the awning. Needed two holes per bracket so I used one of the predrilled holes and drilled a second hole.

Nice! The awning I sort of get since it mouths to the side. I guess I’m more so wondering about mounting gear to the top in the slots. Are people using a carriage bolt for this? Or a regular bolt with a washer? That’s what I don’t understand. It isn’t super easy to access the cross bar channel from underneath.

It wasn't "easy" to get under the crossbar but was able to set up, and I used a small wrench to hold the washer and nut in position.

I think most applications are fine to use a simple hex bolt with washers on both sides.

Just want to say that two years later this thing doesn’t have a lick of rust. I got the lights hooked up and they work fine. It’s loud on the highway but what rack isn’t. As mentioned in other posts it’s a bit ugly compared to the Pinsu....but at this point you are talking about the last two chicks in the bar and you’re already 6 or 8 drinks in. I have my hijack, tool case and spare water up there.

How is the road noise with the light bar installed? I took just the front fairing off and the noise got even worse. The humming sounds was quite irritating. I'd hate to buy a light bar and mount it and have a similar scenario as I did with no fairing. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

do you have any more pictures on how you did the pipe insulation? I have the same rack and did the same thing but still have some whistling going on.

Just FYI… I have the older rack on a second gen. I have a Thule Force XT L roof box and I was going to put it on my crossbars on my truck cap. But, I found out if I removed the first crossbar of the roof rack behind the faring, the roof box sits perfectly flat and does not take up the whole roof. I can still put my mountain bike on the other side.

Not sure if anyone cares.. but it might save someone a shitload of research down the road.

Anyone from the north that can comment on how it holds up with winter and salt?

On ebay they have some rack similar to hooke but under a hecasa brand. Anyone tried this other brand?

Mine is way more quiet with light bar then the provided fairing. I tried the bulb seal on the fairing and it didn't do much but rub my paint. I did have to adjust the light bar down a little further than i would like to reduce the noise.

Just installed the one that comes with the 4 light pods. Install was easy. I’ll probably wire up the lights later. I was on the freeway today and the noise wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.

The rack itself is holding up but the hardware is showing a little surface rust. I’m in Maryland

Has anybody gotten some deal on pricing or found a coupon code or gotten the company to work with them a little on the price? I'm thinking about buying the roof rack and the rear bumper so if I'm going to drop $900 on China products I'd like some slightly better pricing. Also, how do you deal with the rear bumper and towing if anybody happenes to have it with the hitch behind the plate.
