Right, and that’s what I’ve been reading on here. I will probably go up in size eventually but I’m gonna let these burn down a little before I waste money on new tires when mine are basically new

A lift will hurt the aerodynamics on the highway so it will feel slower and might take more throttle to maintain speed, especially if towing. Bigger tires will hurt even more. Just stay in the right lane and you should be fine. You might want to get a scanner to monitor auto trans temperatures if towing on hills.

How much would that be? I’m not going to be hauling much. Probably a cooler and some drinks. I’m just curious if I should re gear regardless if I NEED it I just want my power back (depending on cost)

You could get the ScanGaugeII for around $100 and add in the pids to monitor trans fluid temp and converter temp. If you're not towing much then it's probably not needed. These 2.7 trucks with the 4 speed automatic just don't work well in hilly areas. They tow fine in flatter areas but even the truck by itself climbing a mountain will struggle.

Yeah I’ve noticed that going up long mild hills my truck tends to struggle.
I will say I’m a little worried about my truck because my brother and cousin put about the same lift on their tundras and the rack and pinion/ power steering went out on them WHILE DRIVING so I’m a little concerned about that. What’s the best way to ensure that doesn’t happen?

I haven't heard anything about power steering problems. Maybe the lift throws off the alignment and that led to issues if it wasn't properly aligned.

Well I know my brother did it himself and waited to get it aligned so maybe?? I went to one of the best shops around so hopefully nothing fails mechanically. I’ve been looking around for tires- 265/75R15 will work right? (Mine is 15” rims) and I have 235/75 now so

Do your wheels have 5 lugnuts or 6? I have the feeling you’ve got a 5 lug Tacoma. That’s the wrong vehicle for lifting or towing any significant weight.

It’s a 5 lugger. I didn’t want to go crazy with the lift it’s just a 2.75”. I’m not going to be towing much other than maybe a 250cc wheeler with a small trailer and the occasional John boat. Should be fine, right?

after the lift I’m just sitting up a little higher. don’t notice any strange sounds(grinding) or smells or stiffness of the steering. Nothing concerning, not yet at least.

I had always thought the options for lifting a 5 lug were really limited. What kind of lift did you get? Yeah you should be fine with small ATV or aluminum boat, just don't try to pull a 19' travel trailer!

The options were very slim it’s a 1.5” spacer (giving me 2.75”??) with the aal option is about the best option for 5 lug 4 bangers
