I don't think I do. I have the part that energizes the coil hooked up. The relay will flip when I hook it up. The only other wires are the bigger fused hot that goes into the relay and then the wires comin out that feed the lights

Okay..well I think all you need is a diode and you'll be golden

I have it hooked up like you are saying, minus the diode. I actually never got to hook them to the LEDs because as soon as I tried to hook the coil end up it would flip my lights on. But I don't see how the diode is going to do anything. It's still going to let 12v to the coil side of the relay, and when the truck is off the headlight wire is a ground. So it will flip the relay, but the 12v that are flowing thru the coiled side of the relay are bleeding into my stock headlight plug and firing my HIDs. If I had hooked up m LEDs it would actually mean my LEDs would also be on when the truck is off. Because it is bleeding into my HIDs and triggering them, but it is also trippin the relay which would mean the LEDs would also be stuck on

I hope maybe this will help. Since you have HIDs, you need to tap into the FACTORY harness, BEFORE the HIDs connect in. Below is an image that I hope will help out. If this is how you have it wired already, then perhaps the HIDs ARE causing something unusual. Try unplugging the HIDs from the factory harness, and see if the LED bar operates from the high beam switch.

mmm...got that a tad wrong Bill..

The fused 12v feed from that battery needs to feeding the LEDs..not the power from the Hi beams..

or am i having a major brain fart and you have it right i jsut have relay numbers backwards...(its finals week and i have had little sleep so bear with me man :p)

Relay terminals are always crossed over. Relay control is power to 86, and ground to 85. Load power is input at 30, and output to 87. (Unless you have a switch-off relay where the load is on 87a, and engaging the relay actually turn OFF the device)

    Okay cool..just checking..i need a nap..haha

Also..jsut a wiring diagram thing..to show a crossed connection its a arc over the wire to show its not a connection.

But yes, that is exactly how it should be wired.

one thing i would do is just supply power to pin 86 just from the battery as well. And then put a diode on the ground wire for pin85.

Yeah, I know about the arc over thing, but as ugly as my attempted "fuse" was, I didn't try it. lol.

I re-wired my light force's last night per this…EXACT. Works like a dream. No diode necessary as long as the coil supply 12v is brought from the headlight circuit as illustrated.

Use an "Add a circuit" in your fuse box to get power from "LH" or "RH" headlight power….hook that wire to 86…..run a wire from 85 to the "red with yellow stripe wire" that comes out of the multi function switch on your steering column.

I haven't done it yet but am going to. Basically run the powered coil wire to the headlight fuse, and the ground coil to the red/yellow wire, then the 12v fused on the switch side to battery, and the other switch side wire to the lights? Can I run ground coil to the headlight plug red/yellow, cause it would sure be easier then the steering column?

Yes you can do this but two things. There, the splice is exposed to the elements which will eventually corrode the copper wire, eventually leaving you with a repair to the wire, AND working in that tight spot can be a real pain. It seriously is soooooo much easier to just fish the wire through the fire wall under the brake booster, and then it takes 1 min (literally) to remove the plastic cover from the column.

Well let me ask how this different then taking the powered coil wire to the battery, an then the coil ground to the red/yellow wire on the headlight plug? Because that is what I did the first time an it would back feed power into my HID harness and trigger my lights on at all times. Even when the truck was off

Is it because you wouldn't get a hot signal until the headlights were triggered on? Cuz then it would trigger them with the headlights, and I can't drive like that. My HIDs blind people enough lol
