I know what you mean. My wife won't let me even look at other homes - let alone their gardens. :p

But see, it's good to look at other Homes and Gardens. It gives you ideas on how to IMPROVE your own garden...

So you'll be giving your money to Steve Jobs instead. While I like the look and features of the Mac OS, I won't buy a Mac. I think they're worse as a preditory company than Microsoft; they control both the hardware and software. Since their machines are x86, there's no reason the OS wouldn't run on a Dell or other Intel platform. When the x86 MacOS came out as a Beta, developers hacked it so it would run on a standard PC. They intentionally lock it so it won't run on anything but their machines and threaten anyone with legal action who tries to crack it to run on a non-Mac PC (imagine the howl if Microsoft put in a lock that prevented Mac users from running Windows in their Boot-Camp dual boot). If they'd just remove the locks on their software so it would run on any Intel machine and sell it outright, I might consider the OS. If I wanted to get away from Windows, I'd use Linux instead.

yea, i agree on most you wrote, however, linux is not an option for me, since the programs i use run only on windows and/or mac os, the locked os, is exactly what makes mac more reliable, when you buy pc, you dont know if all the parts put toghether are 100% compatible between them and with the os, there are many hardware makers, on mac everything works because its designed for the os, so they go in harmony.... just my opinion...

i use FF now. whats are the differences between 2 and 3?

some websites dont work right with FF. some sites with streaming music and video and stuff work better with IE. so i have both but only use IE when i have to

i tried Vista for 8 months hoping i would get use to it. never did, it is the worst OS i have ever used. i reformatted my drive with XP and will never go back to vista.

BTW, wtf is the Red ring of death? i have never heard of this. i have a 360 and now you got me worried about it

The Red Ring of Death is a problem with the XBox360. The powerbutton on the XBox360 has a green led ring around it. When it dies, the ring turns red. I had it happen on mine.

I've had Vista for about a year; it came preinstalled on my new laptop. I haven't had any problems with it. If it's look and feel you don't like, you can make it close to XP:

i didnt like the look or feel of vista, plus it would crash all the time and do stupid stuff. lots of little glitches. like when i closed out the media player, whatever was playing would continue to play for hours and hours unless i opened it back up, hit the stop button and then closed it out. simply hitting hte "X" did not end the program. not to mention the fact that it is a system hog and uses up memory and hard disk space

as far as the red ring of death.... what do you mean "when it dies"? when the Xbox dies? does that mean it's toasted and you have to get a new one or can you fix it?

Yes, it's toast. It can be fixed. Mine was out of warranty. I sent it out to a company that guaranteed that it would only cost $59-$89 to fix (plus shipping). They charge $15 for shipping; you print out a shipping label when you order the service. There's no additional cost to ship it back. It's been working fine since. Looks like they're up to $99 now.
