I sold my 97 4runner with 250k miles on it last month for 2k. The buyer resold it for 3k.
Toyota prices are insane. My 2015 was 34k. Good luck. pay in cash and look around.

Insane is right this is for mine, if you are going to get a loan remember banks will usually only loan what the wholesale value is. Normally that is a little bit below p.p value. This is kbb for my 04

I shopped for a Tacoma for the better part of two years. I really wanted a clean, single owned, low miles second gen. Found one at my local Toyota dealer with 47K DCSB 4x4 for $28500... talked them down to $27630... dealers know what they can get. Keep looking and you may find some private seller that doesn't know what he has. :fingerscrossed:

The markets you guys are in must be crazy. I paid 24.5k before taxes and fees for a 2013 access cab trd sport 4x4 a little over a year ago. It had 24k miles on it too.

If it were me and I only had $15,000 to spend on a truck I would look for a used Ford Ranger. They are great trucks and you can find a lot of truck with low miles for under $15K...

Probably not a popular idea on a Tacoma forum...sorry.

Well I'm in North Dakota and we just set the State record for snowfall and winter just started so... trucks are hot right now. Is yours a CPO? Some 70 year old had my sport before me and it's immaculate with an aftermarket autostart and access tonneau.

With that being said... I was desperate to own a Taco.

If you find one out of your area for a good deal, and you're willing to travel to pick it up, I'm sure there are plenty of members on here, including myself who would go look at it for you and report back. This is TW!

just be patient and one will turn up in your budget, here you would have a choice between 10-15 trucks in a three hour radius but everywhere is different. Like the others have said you might want to expand your search area as I had to, and ended up going to Arizona when I was looking for mine a few years back so good luck on your search.

I bought mine form a window manufacturing company that used it as a managers fleet vehicle, AZ to CA route. it's a 09 bought it in 2015 for $10,500 with 170k miles ( lady at the bank said it was worth a lot more) all services were performed on time. My truck has 222,000 miles now and still runs strong, I'll drive it anywhere. So a fleet vehicle might be an option.

Even for 4x2 with less than 100k you're priced out.... realistically unless someone is desperate to dump their truck or there is something wrong with it, I don't see how you can get your 4x4 for under $20k

    I have a 2010 DC pre runner and it's valued at ~$24k

Honestly, buy a first gen. (First gen, best gen). The things are literal tanks, high mileage is not an issue given the fluids are good, might need a few minor repairs such as a timing belt and water pump, a lot less than a jeep would need believe me. Given theres no frame rust (which is a problem with seconds too), youre not in for any problems. Its gonna be just as capable as a second gen, if slightly less power. (I can cruise at 80 without even knowing Im going that fast) I found mine for dirt cheap, check craigslist and your other forums of choice EVERY DAY. I snagged mine with the owners phone ringing off the hook. Be patient, and do not compromise. With a 15k budget, you can acquire one of the best first gens left on the road today...

I am pretty sure mine was off lease. It had brand new Destination A/T's and the frame was mint with no rust. The poor thing had never even been off road.

That's awesome, gotta find those rare Tacomas that haven't been to hell and back.
