Well, the rearview mirror on my new 22 OR hangs pretty low, blocking my view out of the right side of the front window. I did some research and found that the neck of the mirror is adjustable. I went out to the truck and gave it a little push upwards to test this out and sure enough, it's true- great news! So I pushed it up, kept going and thought, why not go all the way. Right at the end I heard a little pop, so I stopped.

Took me a couple seconds to realize I had cracked the front windshield! Unbelievable. What was at first some very good news, turned south just like that. It now has two 10" cracks leading out from the mirrow mount location.

I hope this helps some folks in that yes you can adjust the neck of your rearview, but also, be careful.

I'm assuming it's safe to drive until I can get it fixed in a few days? Anyone have thoughts on that?
Also, what's a reasonable price to pay. I know it can vary a bit, but what's the average?

    Have a good day !

Picture needed to make a judgement. Without a picture the only thought I can offer is that if the cracks have reached the top edge of the windshield the risk is greater than if the cracks are still inside the edges. But in the end that advice is might be worth exactly how much it cost you ... nothing.

    Good luck.

Sorry this happened to you OP. But I'm surprised that Toyota would include a design flaw in this feature that would allow you to break the windshield?

Sorry that happened to you. I've done the mirror up/down many times without a problem, I know no help to you.
