    Hey Gang,

    My horn stopped working.
Not clock spring. That was replaced a little over a yr ago and all other functions are good.
Wiring looks good to the horns, connections are solid, wiring is tight.
    They are aftermarket hella supertones.
Irrelevant I suppose bit super loud.

I pulled fuse #22 10a. It was toast.
Replaced it, hit the horn, faint horn sound, then toasted that fuse.

    Thoughts?

Find your wiring at the horn, and start following it back til you find where the short in the wiring is. Probably rubbed through somewhere.

Obviously a short somewhere. It’s going to be after the relay. Because it uses a ground signal to trigger the relay. So somewhere out in the engine bay or the coil on the horn itself.

Unhook the horns one at a time and see if it still blows, no uncommon for horns to short internally.

Bro, I’ve upgraded my horn as well.. Check this; a car comes out and turns right RIGHT in front of me! But with 3 lanes, this dips**t pulls into the one I’m driving in! Long story short, I LEANED on that train horn!! Drove on, got home, and when I set my alarm, no “chirp/honk”.. Just “chirp”. Hmm.. Saw your question and after checking the answers (which are WRONG bc I checked interior fuses) I looked under the hood. Popped THAT fuse box, and BINGO! The dinky 10A fuse was burnt! Replaced IT, and “CHIRP/HONK”!

3rd time replacing that fuse and un plugging, cleaning, and re plugging wires in on the horn seemed to work.
Hopefully im good now. Def a wonky issue with no real obvious reasoning as to why it stopped working that i could find.

Add a relay, fuse and wiring that can handle the amps the Hella's require. Use OEM horn relay wire as trigger.

Lower the 10amp OEM horn fuse.

Did you try refilling the horn fluid?

You know, I definitely should have known better. Thank you for contributing with useful knowledge well after the fact much like your blinker fluid, piston return spring, and wiper rotation cousins.

Where the connectors corroded to some degree? Corrosion can build up resistance, leading to a blown fuse. When you pull and reinsert a connector, a new bond is established but the issue will reappear down the road. To help prevent corrosion apply dielectric grease to the female connector(s).

I did precisely that after cleaning the connections.
