I noticed around Thanksgiving that the horn on my 2015 no longer works after someone almost hit me on the freeway. I have looked into the issue and my guess is a bad clock spring. Is replacing a clock spring terribly difficult? I have only ever changed oil and breaks, never anything else.

It is pretty straight forward. I had mine replaced in about the same amount of time it takes to change the oil. I found a YouTube video that covered the repair.

Easy way to confirm is to see if the horn beeps when you press the panic button with the keyfob. If it does, follow the video linked in this post for troubleshooting: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/horn-not-working.731618/#post-26061733

Have you checked the fuse and the relay for the horn? I would do that before replacing the clock spring if you haven’t already.

Very easy to replace the clock spring.

You can short the relay in the fuse box under the hood, if it honk it's not the horn, after that you can do a continuity test from the relay to the steering, open the little door with the screw under the lever for the turn signal on your steering and you will see a black wire plugged with a tab in the middle. Take some long nose and tap your alligator clip and see the resistance. If it's under 1 ohm from the relay to the steering the problem is 99.999% the clock spring.

Torque for the steering nut is 37 lb/ft if i remember right. Don't forget to mark the center it's easy to misalign the steering wheel.

this dude know is shit https://youtu.be/VblczY9PzMc

I did mine 2 month ago with a cheap Amazon clockspring @ 45$ cad shipped. Still work, took 30 minutes

PS: If you go with the cheap clock spring, check every connector pin in the housing, if one is missaligned, you will bend it and it's no go, the connector under take some force to remove and to reconnect, take it easy and bring a mirror or your cellphone to see how thing are placed when you remove/replace each part.
