Hey there I'm trying to fix my mothers horn on 2015 tacoma 4x4. Apparently it worked until she had an after market auto start installed (shops no longer in business).
Changed fuse and relay (horn works when relay is pushed). Chased it to the steering colum where there is a green and black wire poorly wrapped around the connector into the clock spring. If anyone has any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated 20240513_143307.jpg

Is that the Green/Red wire they are tied into?

If it is take a test light connected to ground and touch that wire, if the horn works you likely have a broken clockspring. If it doesn't then you either have a broken wire between there and the horn relay or a bad relay.

@Dm93 it's a green and black wire tied into a solid green wire. I can't seem to find a red and green wire

The solid Green wire (Pin 12) I believe is the illumination for the steering wheel controls, the horn wire is Green/Red and should be Pin 8 of the Spiral Cable connector.

@Dm93 thanks for the clarification I thought the green and black was the horn wire.
Just to be certain it's this wire?20240514_103044.jpg

No it should be Green with a Red trace.

This is a 15 Tacoma correct?

Then there should be a Green wire with a Red trace In Pin 8 of the Spiral Cable connector, are you sure you have the right connector?
Spiral Cable connector should be a 12 pin connector, 2 rows 6 pins each.

@Dm93 I'm not sure that's why I'm coming here for advice. I didn't install this it was done years ago by a shop that's no longer in business.

I'm not sure the remote start is causing the problem but we need to find the correct wire at the Spiral Cable connector to test any further.

It's a black connector so I'm thinking this one.

@Dm93 thanks for all your help you were right it's the clock spring. I was convinced it was something else cause my cruise control still worked. Was chasing the red with green and not the green with red.

I was suspect of it as it seems to be the most common cause of no horn operation.
