Has anyone had any issues with the horn after replacing the blower motor resistor in a 2nd gen??! I installed a new resistor and wire harness, only to discover that the part is faulty. After going over my work 100 times, I finally checked it with the multimeter, and it’s a dud.
Since swapping out the part, my horn has completely stopped working. The fuse and clockspring are fine, and I’m going to check the relay with my multimeter tomorrow morning, but I don’t think that it’s the problem. I pulled my dash off tonight to locate the ground wire for the horn, but I haven’t been able to find it yet.

What the heck have I done?! haha

I seriously doubt changing the blower resistor had anything to do with the horn.

How have you verified your clockspring is good? Have you tried turning the steering wheel while holding the horn button and seeing if it works intermittently?

This is what I can’t figure out.. I know that they are on two separate circuits, but there wasn’t a single issue with the horn until changing out the receptor. It doesn’t make any sense to me either lol
I noticed that the horn wasn’t working when I turned on the truck to test the receptor. I accidentally leaned on it, and was surprised that it didn’t work at all.

Yes, I tried that method to test the clockspring, and still nothing…

Do you hear the relay click when you push the button?

If not I'd backprobe Pin 8 (Green/Red) at the clockspring connector with a needle or other suitable tool and use an incandescent test light connected to a known good ground to tough the backprobe and see if it honks.

If you do hear it clicking when the button is pressed then see if you have power at the horns when the button is pressed.

No, I can’t hear a click when I press the horn.

Thank you. I’ll give that a try in the morning. If it does honk, what would that indicate?

If you can backprobe the clockspring connector and honk it with a test light but it won't honk from the button then the clockspring is bad.

Ah okay. Thank you so much! I appreciate your help. I don’t have a lot of experience with electrical, so I’m learning as I go with this one lol

Rare, but a pin can get pushed back into a connector and fail to make contact. Look at the male pins and see if any are lower than the others.
