Horn only works with panic

Folks...
Just purchased a 2012 Tacoma LB TRD with 65k miles...she's a real peach but showed up with a non working horn. Pushed the horn several times with no luck. Actually the horn honked one time. I then pushed the panic button on FOB and it works every time. Fuses seem fine, obviously. Have read something about spiral cable. FYI cruise works fine and no airbag light on. Please advise.

 

The previous owner must repair the horn to pass the state inspection.

If you have steering wheel audio controls check to see if they light up. That is another wire that fails in the clock spring (spiral cable). In my case i lost the lights first, then the cruise control then the airbag, all over the course of 18 months and 75,000 km. Replacing the spiral cable fixed all of it for me.
