I guess my horn just quit working recently, tried to use it the other day and nothing. '01 V6, anybody had this issue before? Trying to decide if I should troubleshoot the sensors or if I can just swap in an old chevy horn or something

Either the horn itself is done or the horn relay is not working.
You might hear a "click" from under the dash when you push the horn button, this is the relay operating. If it clicks the relay is most likely working.

And yes you can absolutely replace it with the horn of your choice. I picked up a slightly more "manly" sounding unit from the parts store.

I've done a mod or two
Just hope you don't have a broken clock spring (the cable that connects the steering wheel buttons to the rest of the truck). My clock spring is broken, so my cruise control, horn, and possibly airbag don't function. Stupid little cable is tough as hell to find and costs a pretty penny. If replacing the relay (and fuse) and horn don't fix it that is most likely your issue as well.

My horn was out and so were my blinkers, replaced the horn fuse and it fixed em both.

Also one day my chevy horn stopped working. (I run a 90's chevy and a 80's Ford horn cause stock sounds God awful and I honk a lot:D ) well I just went to the junkyard, got the same horn plugged it in and it worked. Take a battery to a junkyard and test out horns, pick one or two you like and put em on, my two horns cost me $5

Use a DVM to see if you get voltage at the horn when the button is pressed. If yes, the horn itself is bad. If no, work upstream till you find the problem.

Typically the relay, the clockspring, or even the buttons themselves are the culprits.

Haven't noticed a click when pushing the horn, I'll check that today. Would make it an easy fix

That's what I like to hear. I did some research and it sounds like certain Lexus horns are plug and play so I may go that route if necessary.

I'll check the voltage at the horn too, thanks all
