Hey guys just needing to pick the brain trust. the horn on my '11 dclb stopped working (not sure how long ago). I've looked and made sure that the wires are still connected to the horn in the front, I have not looked at the fuses yet.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and where to look.

is your taco part of the spiral cable assembly recall ? horn goes through spiral cable

check your vin, may need a new spiral cable assembly

open up steering wheel and use a multimeter and test horn wire

I wouldn't recommend opening up the steering wheel unless you really know what you are doing. Don't want an airbag blowing up in your face.

I do not believe the E0M(spiral cable recall) does not go to 2011, just 2009 on the taco. Check the relay before you try to get into the wheel, air bags hurt.

just put your VIN into this site

    http://www.toyota.com/recall

and that answers all the questions about it

and I double-dog-dare-you to show me anyone who removed the
air bag from a toyota steering column (who wasn't a complete and total knob) and had an airbag go off.

    step 1 disconnect battery

step 2 open up steering wheel

step 3 locate air bag connections and disconnect

    step 4 locate horn wire

    step 5 reconnect battery

step 6 test connectivity with multimeter

My horn didn't work when I bought the truck. Dealer determined the ground wire in the steering column itself was never/not connected. Therefore the horn switch never functioned.

I pulled the horn relay, but have not gotten a new one yet. Once I do and test it I will post here.

I'm at the dealer, found out it was the spiral cable, but I have the extended warranty, so it's covered.

Hey, just joined the forum; same problem on a 2011 SR5. I swapped relays, swapped fuses (both checked out) shoved a jumper across the high voltage relay terminals, and it honks. What's this spiral cable thingee? How much will a repair be??
(edit-) ...Ok so the spiral cable thing is what I'd call a slip ring, but whatever...I've noticed a couple of other things with the steering wheel. It doesn't lock when the key is removed, and the wheel is swung to the extreme (related??) and I suspect the air bag is not powered either. Is it possible that these three are related?
The weird thing is that the radio controls still work, which also go through the spiral cable.

Thanks! I followed YT and pulled the part out in about 15 min. I don't have a spare ($13 ebay) but will get one. The question: will it fix the horn, or are there other points to check?...
I'm going through the wiring diagram to find the backside lead. If I ground it, the horn should go off. If it doesn't, it's not the spiral cable.

Ok so I get around to putting in a new relay and that did not fix the horn. I have looked at the recall list for my truck and it does not show that the spiral cable is available for replacement.
