Yeah for now. Hopefully you'll figure out whats causing it.

Btw I have a roll up tonneau cover. I did not think it made a difference, but I had the truck only for a month or so before I installed it and I was not tracking down mileage carefully then as I do now. So it may have helped a bit I guess.

I also shift around 1750-2100rpm and stay in 5th gear most of the time driving in the city. I don't go to neutral often, but rather stay in gear and decelerate. Right now I got 34psi in my winter tires.

Last summer I ran 265/75/16 all terrains so I will have to account for that and edit my past summer fill ups. Should get a bit better average.

    I'm in Alberta.

But you have a bigger truck, cap and lift with bigger tires sir.

I am just getting some the best MPG I have ever seen yet with my truck. I had a ladder/pipe rack on my shell that is temporarily off to paint. Or maybe its the summer gas?

But the scan gauge was showing 17-18 compared to usually 15-16 and went to the 21-22 range for a bit. I will track my next tank before I put the rack back on.

I bet that rack is a real drag at highway speeds. Loaded with a ladder etc can only make things worse. I had a pipe cutting bench that I hauled from Denver to Boulder and it stuck up a little higher than the cab, and my mpg plummeted.

    Had my dbcab 4x4 m6 4.0 L for a month now.worst is 15.6 L/100 km.18.1 mpg imp. gal.16.1 mpg us gal.best is 10.9 L/100 km.25.8 mpg imp gal.23 mpg us gal.
The engine has no torque below 2500 rpm so I never drive below 2500 rpm in the first 4 gears.when cruising the highway in the top two gears I will run as low as 2000 rpm.I would rather pay for gas than lug the crap out of my engine. And i can't complain about the gas mileage. Get 440 to 575 km per tank.275 to 360 miles per tank.

I run Regular.I hope I keep getting this good of gas mileage.I love this truck and as I get used to it I find myself getting on it more and more.It 's just too fun a truck to go fast in.

Ok DeepComa. We live in the same city, and have the exact same truck, and are experiencing the exact same problem. lol We should probably compare notes.

Any improvement since you've passed 1000k? They say it WILL get better...Jesus, I sound like a PSA for bullying :p

None yet...keeping an eye on it though and hoping for better mileage! Service department at Plaza told me to bring it in but I haven't had the time yet but will soon. Maybe our climate and local gas is to blame...I dunno!

Nice to see a local taco owner here on this site! Will you be offroading that puppy? I am going to take it easy on mine till this summer when I get a lift and some decent tires as the dunflops suck. I had a 2004 TRD Offroad before this one and would wheel a fair bit so I am going through a little withdraw.

I'll definitely be taking this puppy off-road. I won't be climbing any sheer rock faces like some guys on here lol But I am looking forward to seeing what she can do for sure.

As for the poor mileage, I am still on my first tank of gas so I don't have anything to compare yours too yet but I will definitely keep you posted. All I know is, compared to my 2011 Dodge Ram that was burning through $150 tank of gas in about 350k drifting around corners in the snow, it can't be that bad. ;)

Totally cool to meet a local Taco owner though, especially one with the identical truck. (13 DC TRD SB Manual) I am fairly new to the Avalon (born and raised in central) so any tips on decent places to test her out off-road would be much appreciated!

i also own a 2007 FJ Cruiser which i get identical fuel mileage with , which is odd considering the FJ is about as aerodynamic as a kleenex box lol , my only complaint about the Tacoma is the stock dunlop tires are terrible , but a nice new set of Goodyear Dura Tracs will remedy that situation.
