I have noticed a major difference in gas milage when I fill up in San Diego County (around 12 mpg) vs Riverside or Orange County (around 15) mpg. Has anyone else noticed this? or am I just losing it?

it could be that the san d. store is mixing their gas to make it last longer.

but winter gas does effect mpg too

I even had to use 4WD to get around in the snow and I'm currently at 20.7 on my tank [IMG]. 0w30 is the cat's meow when it's 15F outside.

I've had times where I'd find a particular gas station gives poor fuel economy. There was one that affected my Honda something terrible. It would drop me from the mid 40s to the low to mid 30s, and the computer would be pulling timing like crazy.

Happened in the tundra once with a trailer. Bad batch of gas, made the tranny keep kicking down, dropped the avg to about 8 or so instead of the usual 10.5mpg.

Can't say I've ever gotten a CEL from bad gas though.

Go to Mexico and fill up with Pemex... pure gasoline, no ethynol eco garbage to dilute it. I always get better mileage on Mexican gasoline 87 octane Magna. I have been told I could get better on 91 octane Premium... 87 is selling for $2.61/ gallon now in Baja away from the border zone.

Update on "winter blends". Only 89 has no ethanol. 91 has as much as 13% and 87 is averaging around 8%. I am switching to 89!

I always fill up when in Mex. (about 2wice a month) just have to be careful not to get gas from a station with old tanks. Lots of water!

It is confirmed! This is trip 3 to the Moreno Valley this month and I get around 50 more miles per tank when I fill up there instead of down here in San Diego.
