To those who asked and commented, yes I am taking into account spedometer error by increasing the reading by 7%. However, I just realized how stupid I am. I burned a little less than 3/4 tank. So to calculate my gas mileage I did 250 miles/21 gallons........ lol

I guess Im actually getting 16-17MPG with 33" tires, full cab, and 400 lbs of cargo!

that's pretty much how you have to deal with modifying our trucks...

most who have been in this scene for a while will tell you to regear when upsizing your tires that much...

what exactly is regearing? does it involve reprogramming the ecu or are there physical parts involved? And how much does it cost? Will it get me back the power that I had at stock? I remember I used to be able to peel out with stock tires (265) but I cant now =(

You didn't specify how many gallons it took to refill it. The most accurate way to gauge how much gas you've used is to use the number of gallons pumped to refill the truck. The gas gauge is terribly inaccurate.

Since the tank capacity is 21.1, if you have a 1/4 tank left, that would mean you had used about 15.8 gallons (you didn't use the full tank so you can't divide by 20). 280/15.8 = 17.7 mpg.

If you haven't corrected for the increased tire size, you would be close to 19 mpg.
    280 + 7% = 299 miles
    299/15.8 = 18.9 mpg.

The other factor that is hurting your gas mileage is how aggressive the KM2 is. It takes a good bit more power just turn them vs your factory street tires(rolling resistance), and with the added diameter of the tire(over the stock size), the decrease your experiencing in gas mileage sounds about right. bummer.......

iv been driving 60 on the freeway and never about 2k rpm in the city. right now im at 338 with 1/4 left. so i should get about 425 before i need a fill up. i have 265/75/16 and i hate driving like that to get about 5 mpg better than i do when i drive the way i like and enjoy the truck but oh well, allows me to have more time in my truck and "bond" haha

you would actually swap out the gears in your rear differential and if 4x4, your front diff as well...

with 33s, happy medium seems to be 4.56

average cost if you have the shop do all the labor, will run $700 to $900 parts and labor...

is it the same diff of 7% if ur running with 35"s. i just had mine regeared and ewanted to see the diff from the stock gears. because recently had a trip la with the new gears but mpg doesnt seem to go up like. the charts says that it would be almost back to dactory settings but i know it wont because of the height of the lift plus the drag im pretty sure it slows the truck a little bit.

but sure felt the gears are working and i can feel how smooth the ride is. but would realy wanted to know some no's just hope they didnt use 4.1's on it.

either you guys have heavy foots or you don't know how to drive...

i have a '06 4x4 TRD Tacoma. I am still on the stock tires and rims but I am running a TRD CAI and DTLH (Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers). even without a tune I am still able to see between 210-225 miles for the 1st half a tank of gas...for a whole tank I will typically see 390-415 depending on my work schedule and my driving habits...

1 tank typically lasts me a little over 2 weeks. that's with me living about 10 miles to work another mile from work to school and another 10 miles back home every day...that's just normal driving distance for me...

I also tend to fill up right before I hit quarter tank of gas left...just cause I don't like running my hoses till they are dry...

honestly I don't want to sound like an @ss...but my tacoma is a 6 speed manual and I shift ever gear at 2K rpms...I romp on it every now and then but I am still able to average 21-22 mpg...

    Wouldn't 4.10's be better for 285's? And 4.56's for 35's?

you need to run at least 40 psi in those bfg km's big heavy tire more plies etc, and alot of rolling resistance and speedo error are all your gas mileage factors for you in this mine went down abit with the dara tracs 265-75-16 at 40 psi
