Yes! I got 22+ with today's fill up...A/C on for a good chunk of the tank, and 265/75/16R. Also, cruise control is your friend when applicable.

I on the KBB website the other day and noticed that it states in the specs that a 2006 Tacoma Double Cab 4.0 V6 only gets 16/20 City/Highway. Not sure if you have a double cab or not but I was surprised to read this since I thought I was getting crappy mileage too. But I've just gotten used to it. I like the skinny pedal so I know it's my fault, that and the lift and bigger tires don't help either.

I drove 08 DC auto on a 700 mile round trip running 75-80 mph and averaged 18-19.5 between fillups. :notsure:

Man, that just sounds hellacious for a 2WD truck. I hope Toyota addresses fuel efficiency on Tacomas in coming years.

hm, I have the 6 speed 4x4 and I average between 19 and 20 mpg on back roads and 20 to 22 on the highway. Thats with a cat back TRD exhaust and drop in TRD filter, oh and amsoil lubricants through out my powertrain.

I started out around 17mpg in my Tacoma when I first bought it used. Now, after adding the throttle body spacer, the K&N air filter, the removal of the secondary (charcoal) air filter, tonneau cover, and running synthetic oil, I have my mpg up to 19.6 and counting. Yeah the throttle body spacer makes it whistle a little but I don't care for over 2.5 mpg I'll live with it and laugh as I drive by the gas station:p

yeah it's probably your driving habits, with my truck on 5100's set at 1.75, a 125lb front bumper and slightly bigger tires than stock (@44psi lol) i usually get between 18-19 in the summer, in the winter.... well that's a different story, i have a ultragauge so that MPG is corrected and accurate, you really have to drive it like a grandma to get 19mpg out of it, at least i do

edit, i'm on new spark plugs, a K&N drop in filter, removed secondary filter, and i cleaned my TB, i may have to look into the spacer, where are you guys gettin them from?

I bought my throttle body spacer on Ebay for around $50. It's an OBX, I have had them on my last three trucks and an '06 Mustang. You can spend more for them from places like JC Whitney, etc. but they are all the same when you get down to it. So why pay more? Just type in throttle body spacer and Toyota Tacoma and whatever year model....

Coming from a fully built jeep as a DD getting about 12mpg and terrible streetability, i was looking for something with a little more comfortability, cargo room, and gas mileage. I also needed something to haul my dirtbike and get rid of my annoying trailer everywhere i went with it. My original thought was to get a truck (full size), after looking i saw i was not gaining any gas mileage with those big v8's nor did i need that heavy duty of a truck. SO i started looking for a smaller v6 truck and rear good reviews about these trucks and all of the 17-20 mpg's. SO i found one i liked and bought it.

I LOVE it, BUT the gas mileage is not what it was hyped up to be. BUT better than my jeep and alot more comfortable/practical. I am not worried about gas mileage, but did want to see an increase in mileage because WHO DOESNT!? I posted a thread similar to this one earlier, just being curious whether something was wrong b/c i was only getting 13-15 mpg and got similar answers "why you worried about gas mileage" WHO ISNT?

Me. It was rated second behind the Ranger for light truck mpg. Ranger looks too damn boring and the style has looked the same for 2 decades, so I went with the Tacoma.

SOmeone on this thread mentioned sea foam. How did yall go about getting the seafoam into the system? did you use it in the fuel, straight into the throttle body with a funnel, or a vacuum line? Just curious b/c getting the fluid into a horizontally mounted TB can prove to be difficult?

I put some in my oil for the next change probably this weekend (100-500 miles). Next fuel up will get a can. The rest in the brake booster hose. Careful with the last one though because if your neighbor doesn't like you, then they may report you for polluting. So do the brake booster after work or somewhere away from your home.

The tb one is easy with the spray can sea foam. I may do that too if I still have some left. BTW, sea foam is $8.99 at walmart.

Used to put Sea Foam directly into the tank with a fill up on my old Triumphs (bikes, not cars) . Also used it as a fuel stabilizer over the winter months, but eventually found it better to just drain all the fuel from the carbs and keep the tank full to prevent condensation. Then I'd have to drain the fuel from the tank in the spring, but hey, an old Bonnie only had a 3.2 gallon tan,
