Tire size will always affect odometer and speedometer.

Yep, that's what I thought. The wheel spd. sensor counts the revolutions of the wheel, it has no idea if the wheel goes 10' per rev or 12' per rev.

    Like, so many.
Once I started modding I had to just quit worrying about mileage.

Yup, researched some more regarding the Vehicle Speed Sensor and the Turbine Speed Sensor which have to do with the electronic (automatic) transmission. Speedometer is pulled solely from the wheel speed sensors in the hub and as a proxy, the odometer is pulled from the combination meter (instrument cluster). So yes, I should drink my coffee before face-rolling across the keyboard. My misunderstanding came from certain transmissions (read: not Tacoma) pull revolutions from the transmission via either a mechanical gear or optical/magnetic sensor. I would go back and correct my post but its already out there,.. in internet land.

So, to clarify the correct information in my previous response, the speedometer gets its information from the wheel speed sensors which talk to the ABS/hydraulic brake booster then finally to the instrument cluster. Inside the combination meter, a series of: Speed Control, Temp Control, and Tacho Control. There are others that the combination meter does, but those don't play into the odo/trip.
