I believe the fuel pump is on low speed at idle and light loads.
It operates at high speed during starting and heavy load.

What I’m not sure of is, under what condition is the pump to be tested.
The FSM says to use the “intelligent tester” and turn the pump on via the tester.
What speed is the “intelligent tester” running the pump at?
Through the Resistor on low speed?
Or is it on full speed?

    I have no idea?

    Maybe @Bishop84 will know?

Or maybe the speed doesn’t matter?
Maybe both High and Low speed are capable or 40 PSI.
One just builds up the PSI faster?

    Lol. I don’t know.
I do know I’m going to stick with the pump.

That isn't much of a helpful post. It would be more helpful is you perhaps explained why he is wrong...

As long as you tested it before the fuel pressure regulator, while idling, your fine. Should be around 43.5 psi.

Your pump cannot maintain the required pressure for normal operation because the filter is clogged. This is why your fuel trims are so high.

I think @Torspd has been telling you the correct information, that fuel pump he linked would likely fix your problem, and external filter.

It was the best I could do at the moment given the psycho mods' propensity for banning people for the most ridiculous of reasons. I got 3 days for carefully explaining to some kid that he was giving very bad advice to the OP. Kid gets frustrated and called me an asshole, I'm the one who gets banned. Same thing happened to you recently, Jimmy.

But since you asked, every single thing he wrote was wrong. Bad advice. There is no IAC motor. Even if it had one, brake cleaner is not going to affect it in that way. He thinks there is an "air sensor" and an "O2 sensor" and that both will be ruined by brake cleaner. So much so that they must be replaced. So again, all of this advice is wrong and should never have been posted. There are far too many people on here who've never heard the saying "If you don't know what you're talking about, keep your mouth shut until you do." They are sooo eager for internet recognition. And that leads to someone like the OP, seeking help, to go drop several hundred dollars on upstream O2 sensors when they are not needed.

Nah, nothing like that. There are lots of people on this forum who really know their shit. You, Jimmy, Gearcruncher, many others. I'm 51 and have been doing this since I was 14, so I consider myself in that group. But there are lots who know next to nothing and they're in every thread giving nonsensical advice. It's going to cause new guys to unnecessarily spend money on parts that aren't needed - that's what bothers me. I usually don't chime in, but that one bothered me.

Wait. I can't blanket that stereotype? Awe. :pout:. I'm just fooling around. It's all about teaching and sharing the knowledge. No matter how tactfully done, there will inevitably be some blow back. No worries.

why are the short term fuel trims basically zeroing out the long term ones? wouldn't that indicate something has changed and the ECU is "re-learning"? have you tried resetting the ECU?

32psi is too low, regardless of idle or acceleration.

Question for you guys with experience on the fuel system - has anyone figured out a non-OEM drop in pump replacement? Perhaps a Walbro? I recall this being a basket type setup.

I see you still don't understand. How about making sure you understand the problem before posting advice? Isn't that the right thing to do?

I understand completely. Lets make sure we all understand the problem fully before we request assistance. The advice given must be exact and cause the problem to go away immediately requiring no further input from others. Better yet we will all submit our problem to you so you can state exactly how to fix them.
