While a high 14 second car is peppy for what it is you're not smoking any STI or other "fast" car that is actually racing you and has a halfway competent driver.

How about the new Rav4 Prime. Only Toyota that's quicker is the Supra.

As someone who used to own a very fast STI, I beg to differ. 2007 RAV4 weighs in at only 3500lbs? 270hp and nearly the same torques. I'd guess it does 0-60 in about 5-1/2 or 6 seconds. That little crossover is quite fast and will easily hang with most "fast" cars on the road.

With that said, I'll agree with you that it really depends on the driver behind the STI and the work done to the vehicle. Most STI drivers around here seem to be kids who can barely drive a standard transmission or middle-aged guys in midlife crisis mode too afraid to push their car beyond 4000 rpm

You're making me miss my old car tho. Man that thing would blow past just about everything except for a gas station lol

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
This was my car from 1976 to 1986. A 1970 Firebird Formula 400 RAM Air. Stock, I never changed it other than tires. It produced 345 horsepower @ 5000rpm and 430 lbs.-ft. torque @ 3400rpm. 3 speed automatic, but you could manual slap shift it. The owners manual said “do not exceed 65 mph in first gear.”

It was a beast on the highway, but it could burn rubber going from 1st to 2nd at 30mph. Just stomp it and spin away. Went through a lot of tires, bought it when I was 19 years old.

Used to drive it at 140mph out on the prairie flats in Alberta when I went out there to work for a year. Handled really well for a big car, and fantastic on the corners.

A link with some specs and story about the car.

Back in those days I had a $20 Kodak instamatic camera and we never took photos of anything. Too busy living life, no time to document it. Taking pics wasn’t a thing, nowadays its an addiction. The pic is after I had the body and motor rebuilt.

If you like this pic, I do have another of the hot dog I had for lunch. That is sure to get some likes.

An sti should easily 60' 1.8s with someone that can drive. No chance a rav is doing that.

it was a great car. The engine was bullet proof. It did not need a rebuild, but one summer when I went to deckhand on commercial fishing boats, I had it rebuilt just because I could. A family friend was the shop foreman and head mechanic for the Pontiac dealer here, and he built and professionally raced cars and motorcycles.

He had his own shop too. I said take your time I am gone for a few months. Came back and it was as new.

I traded it in 1986 for a new but bare bones 86 F150 4x4. Could not afford both and no space to keep both. I spend all my time outdoors fishing so it had to go. Sucked but my priority then and now is driving in the mountains and not the pavement.

Found the hot dog pic too. Yesterdays lunch.

Not sure what you're trying to say there...0-60 in 1.8s?? lol you're smoking trucker meth kiddo. Unless of course you're mixing up your old Subie with this beauty below.

    https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a35493314/1000-hp-mclaren-765lt-does-0-60-in-1-8-seconds/

Here's a link to 0-60 times for just about every STI and other Subaru produced. Every STi from 2018+ is in the 5-6 ish second range. 2007 RAV4 w/ 3.5L sitting at a very comparable 6.3s. Feel free to educate yourself on other vehicles while you're in there, unless you're one of those "anecdotal evidence" types

He did say 60' as in 60 foot. And a sub 2 second 60 foot is pretty fast.

    Although a 0-60 in 1.8s!!!

Ha ok that makes a bit more sense. Thx for the info - the cars I'm sweeping on the road aren't drag cars, even if they're tuned. Apples to oranges comparison IMO

I'll leave this here for shits haha

Bracket racing is a little different then straight up drag racing. You are racing against your dial in. I raced bracket and had to go against a 7 second monster in my plain Jane 13 second Mustang. I spent the whole race watching my rear view for him to take off... then mesmerized as he zoomed passed me to just beat me.

You clearly dont drag race. 60' is 60 foot. As in the sti will stomp the rav out of the hole and that's it. Game over. Unless you think the rav is going to run it down.

The simple fact that you think a 1+ second gap is close shows you have zero racing experience.

LOL you’re still thinking about this? Haha sure kiddo, you’ve told me how it is. Consider my tail tucked away now.

I guess me missing out on all that “racing experience” that you’ve worked hard to earn is going to cost me dearly in life and any other important future endeavors of mine.

In case you weren’t aware, nobody cares dude. It’s just the internet, don’t take it too seriously.
