While I was doing my axel, I noticed some worn looking hoses running between two small boxes. I think one is the Vapor Canister, that's what the part number relates to. I'm not clear on what these boxes do.

Either way, not only are the hoses in need of replacing, but also, there's a small diameter one not connected to anything, it's just dangling from the wiring harness. I've circled it in the photo.

Thanks! Can anyone clarify what exactly these parts do? And how crucial are the hoses?

The simplified version, they keep raw fuel vapor from entering the atmosphere.
When/if you have a problem. You will probably get a Check Engine Light.
Most likely for an EVAP Leak. Which is an emissions issue.
Whether you fix it or not, is up to you and where you live.

You might be able to find a hose that’s the same diameter at a local parts store.
That’s probably going to be a lot easier and less expensive.

Does anybody know the part numbers or what I should ask for at the store?

I can't seem to find these hoses in the hose section of any online stores.

It kinda just looks like a vent, they stick the open end in the frame rail to keep it protected.

Evap systems are notoriously finicky and will code easily if there's a problem. If the CEL isn't on I wouldn't worry about it
