not from the back side...well you might be able to dislodge it, not 100% certain but then the thing will fall down and could jam up in the rotating drum...

I can get the drum about half way off the shoe, but then my bolt runs out. If I get longer bolts can I just pulll it off that way?

Does that make sense? Using the 2 bolt holes on the front of the drum

Always replace springs when replacing brake linings I've learned. I had a problem in the past once cause by reusing old springs.

I haven’t really tried much besides trying to loosen the adjust after that point. I have longer bolt on the way.

got the dang thing off, not I gotta figure out how to adjust it.

I never ever ever use the ebrake, is there a way I can make it not matter so it doesn’t self adjust itself again?

Well it’s put back together, drove around the block and it’s still putting off heat, not as much but I didn’t drive as far.

How much heat does it take to warp a drum?

As soon as I noticed the hot drum, I backed off the adjuster and then reset it so it started to drag, then backed it off until it didn't drag anymore. Sometimes that lasts thru a summer, sometimes not. As I indicated, I still haven't solved the problem.

Not sure how much can warp the drum, but I wouldn't want to drive it if it was producing heat.

Did you loosen the ebrake cable as much as you can with it still able to work?

I found that aftermarket shoes will drag no matter what. I think they're arched wrong or something which might cause the self adjuster to over adjust

That's my take on the problem. Right now I have other things to do than to buy a new set of Genuine Toyota Parts brake shoes, and for me, I can back off the adjusters until I get around to buying the shoes and replacing them.

It’s not hot to the touch, I can just throw snow on it and it melts. The other side seems to do the same after I checked again.

I’ll watch it next time I drive an extended period.

Soon as I took the Centric brand shoes off and installed genuine toyota shoes the problem stopped.
