Hot Take... sr5 grille is best looking

i know there is a lot of debate around this, but imo the pro grille is just played out. i liked it a ton at first. Now i think they're wiggity wiggity wack. only thing i didnt like with my sr5 was the chrome, so changed that.

Also - i will say i like my taillights a lot better than any trd taillights. the clear housing looks cheap. fight me.

finally - stop putting raptor lights on your trucks people.

 

I also like the sr5 grille. I have a 2018 trd or and I've never been a fan of the cheese grater look. I'm likely going to get a 22 sr5 in magnetic gray as well.
Maybe a dumb question- what are raptor lights and why should people stop using them?

 

Raptor lights is slang for those orange DOT lights that Ford Raptors use in their grille because they’re wide enough to require them, like a semi or big dually sometimes has those three little orange lights on the top of the cab. Google is your friend, friend. Should people still using them? That is a question for the taste police.

 

OEM- upgrade from the chrome/black chrome TRD OR grill, and silly cheap too!

 

1. You just made you can't fit them Raptor lights in that grill. lol jkjk
2. I think all 3 of the current grills look pretty solid. I parked next to a SR5 today in my TRD SKEWP addition. And while our grills were real different, I liked the way both looked.

 

I like the SR5 grill that came on my 2018 better than any of the other factory ones, but liked the T Rex billet grill better. It doesn't stick out like the stock grill and the Toyota logo with the radar thing in it sits flush with the new grill.

My SR5 grill has been sitting in my closet since November 2018.

 

Never, 2021 TRDOR grill for the win.

I like the SR5 grille. When/if my OR ever shows up, the dealer can swap the grills when I trade in the SR5?

 

As @Malvolio stated, "Raptor" lights are Fords unique way of installing clearance lights onto a truck that required them when they widened the body and wheels. I am suprised Tacoma owners aren't putting on the outside clearance lights on their fender skirt as well. I will only every see them as clearance lights. Everytime I see someone call them "Raptor" lights makes me cringe!!!

I like the Pro grille the best. It’s cool if some people think they’re played out or whatever, but it’s a mass produced vehicle with about 20,000 other parts that are also identical. So having the same grille isn’t any different than having the same windshield to me.

 

I think the simple bold look of the 2020+ SR grill is the best looking. Wouldn't swap for a pro grill if given to me.

I agree that grille is great. My 20 SR5 is the same (except chrome trim).

I also really like the heritage grille and would be tempted to try it but possibly having issues with TSS makes it not worth it I think (since I like my stock grille well enough).

I actually just blacked out my SR5 grille surround. Turned out awesome.

 

Agreeeeed OP! I prefer my SR5 grille and also do not like the clear look of the taillights on other trims. Although personally I like the chrome bits- the bumper in particular reminds me of the Tacoma my grandpa had when I was a kid. Lots of good memories riding around in that truck!
