Just came in the mail today. Nice detailed bug but I’m surprised they made the rear deck lid raised up like the picture but doesn’t open.

Unfortunately my good friend had a heart attach the other night. He’s doing better today but they won’t allow anybody in to see him.

    Direct from Hot Wheels wiki
Jaded is a Hot Wheels original design that debuted in the 2002 Hot Wheels line. Designed by Mike Nuttall, Jaded was inspired by Kaiser-Frazer's low-cost "Henry J" 2-door sedan of the early 1950s, which has since become an American classic and the basis for many street-rods and dragsters.

Oh no. So sorry to hear that.

Got this one a couple days ago. It has the 67-72 F100s that I really like but the truck isn't that well done. The Gasser Mustang and trailer are neat. I bought it for those. I just posted the 1/24 scale Crane Cams Mustang last week of this car. This is the Gasser version. I turned off the lights and went for a night shot. buzzard 020.jpg buzzard 016.jpg

Finished up the last two displays yesterday afternoon. I think I'll give it a rest building for now. I'm a little tired of ripping wood and cutting dado's for the time being. A couple notes.

    This will make 2 displays
Supplies. 1"x8"x 8'-0" poplar for the frame. Sides are 21 1/2" Long, Top and bottom are 41 1/2" Long. Ripped to 1 1/2" wide
Do this first. Then assemble your frame. Place the frame on the plywood, trace the outside of the frame and cut the back of your display. Assemble the display so that you can make sure the 1 1/2" plywood strips will fit inside. I had to thinly cut away the ends to fit inside frame.

    4x8 sheet 5/32 plywood.

    Rip plywood 9x to make 1 1/2" x 4" Long strips
    Rip again 9x to make 1 1/2" x 4" Long stips

Tape the (9) 40" long strips together so that they are even on the ends. This is so you can cut dados in the 9 strips at once.

Do the same for the (9) 20" Long strips.
You can see my strips here taped together. You will cut dados 5/32" side to interlock the strips.
    IMG_20200830_170019017.jpg

Mark the strips 9 times. On the 20" piece spaced every 2"
On the 40" piece every 4"

Cut dados in the taped together strips. The depth will be 3/4" deep to interlock the 1 1/2" strips. Very time consuming and dangerous using a table saw. Take your time and take breaks if you need to. Go slow so that the cuts are straight. You have to make two passes on each cut for the thickness of the plywood to fit.

Once done, sand all the strips if you'd like and assemble.

Drill 3/16" holes in the corners. Measured 1" both ways from inside the frame. This is used to mount to the wall.

*I would like to note if you plan on building more than two, buy all of the supplies at once. The first sheet of plywood was perfect, didn't bow or warp after I cut it. The next two sheets I bought warped like you wouldn't believe. It was also milled thinner as well. This was supposedly the exact same plywood (same skew at home depot) but I could definitely tell a difference in thickness. Had I bought my 3 sheets of plywood from the same bundle the first go round I would not have had this problem. Some strips were completely unusable.

Tools: Bessey 90-Degree Angle Corner Clamp (4 of them)
Table Saw with fine tooth blade
    Circular Saw
    Speed Square
    Tape Measure
    Chalk Line
    Drill
    Sheetrock anchor (Speed)
    Wood Glue (For frame Corners)
Bostich Nail Gun (1 1/2" finishing nails) For corners of frame and back of display
    Saw horses
    Safety glasses
    Facemask for sawdust

I see a lake. Maybe a Hot Wheels boat on the water? With a big rooster tail behind it!

I cant believe how VWs there are out there. Diecastmodelswholesale .com has a whole section with nothing but bugs on their website. Im betting Williams63 has most of them.

Hot Wheels Wednesday Week 37! Yota lakin' it!

    WK37 Yota Lake Spot (1 of 1).jpg

And my wife taking a pic of me getting ready for the shot lol. Side story, my kayak (not pictured) was knocked lose by a ridiculous wake shortly after I took my HW picture lol. The toyota hw truck was washed up the beach haha. Glad my camera wasn't at lake level when that happened

Thanks for explaining the story. I was thinking they were just people curious to see what you are doing that showed up. I have to ask why the life preserver on the beach during a photo shoot?
    Keep them coming.
