I've been searching high and low for that Mondrian Chevy. I'm a big fan of all things Mondrian.

 

@RLMoody this is the Ohio George gasser I was talking about. This was part of a set I bought years ago. I don’t remember the name of the set. Hot Wheels 1/64

 

I tried to polish one... mine didn't turn out like I thought it would so I ended up color match painting it to match a friends hot rod.

When i first saw that red one a few months back I thought it was an error because of the different colored wheels. Then I noticed all of them had it.

 

A bit of a tangent but I first came across the Mondrian style when following late 80s road racing.

Pretty niche, obviously, but some may know the name Greg Lemond. He won the 89 Tour de France on the team that was previously wearing the Mondrian-inspired La Vie Claire jersey.

 

Here is some of the cars I purchases at Walmart and HEB grocery store this weekend. I was able to get to the shelves during low occupancy times as the shelves were mostly full for the pickin!

 

Only two at my local market and these were them. Couldn't pass them up. My grandmother use to drive an 1985 Quattro that was brought over from Germany. Loved that car. She sold it when I was 15 and I was so mad. Ha.

 

These finally came in the mail today. I have to say, they are pretty cool. A bit expensive, but I didn't have to do anything besides snap them together. They make me want to go buy a laser cutter.

It is but I wouldn't trust it loaded up with cars. It has two pre-drilled holes for screws that are 16 on center.

That’s going to look unbelievable loaded up with cars. Love how they sit at an angle.

 

I think so! My son will be excited for all of 5 minutes. But, this also means we get to open the rest of his cars.

I think I like this one for my own personal cars. I think I have less than 48, so I could even get a few more to fill it up.

That’s a pretty nice one too. I will have a hot wheels room someday and I would love to make a custom case that’s a little different. I also need something to hold a lot of convention cars that come in baggies with a header card.
