Why would somebody pay $52 when you can buy it now for $9?

 

The $9 is a standard release. The $52+ is the super treasure hunt release.

You can find treasure hunts if you want to spend some time looking. Unless you live in an area like me where people hang out waiting for the store to open and go through all the new stuff on the shelves.

What’s the difference between a normal one and a super treasure hunt?

 

A day trip to pick up family in ORD lead to an additional blow to my bank account...

The guy running the store is best described as old-school. Real chill and cool to deal with. And he was very nice about discounts. The BA L-1011 was missing an antenna (at this scale, they're very tiny, but collectors are very fastidious about stuff like this), and he took $10 off! He also gave discounts to the other two models, too. And his store sells model trains, as well.

I just wish he was open longer. I arrived with only an hour before closing. And I'm not kidding, I would have bought the whole store if someone wasn't with me!

Edit: to make this post car-related, I saw the new FL5 Type R in the wild for the first time. And it's much better looking than the preceding FK8. Now to buy the 1/64 model (AKA the only way I can afford one)!

 

Usually Real Rider tires and wheels and a fancy paint job.. and far less produced.

There are Treasure Hunts, which are a singular vehicle to find and Super Treasure Hunts which are a fancy version of a mainline vehicle.
