    Scalpers, Vultures. Same difference.
    Scum of the earth.
I don't understand the logic. They spent hours running around to all of the stores and burn how much gas? doing so. They fight amongst themselves and customers in the stores. Then they go out and sit all day in the sun with the other vultures competing against each other to make a few bucks off each car they sell. Set up fees at flea markets and swap meets eat up more profits and are increasing. They have to sell a lot of cars to make it worth the effort. I like when they tell me how hard these cars are to find and I think no shit your the reason why. I low ball them knowing they wont sell and walk away pissing them off and grumbling thinking they missed a sale they never had anyway. No sympathy here.
    Don't buy from them. I don't.
I do buy diecasts at those events but look for guys just selling off parts of their collections and hopefully find them before the vultures do. It happens.
I don't bother with eBay, Craig's list etc.. Yard sales and auctions sometimes yield surprises. Vultures do the auctions and estate sales as well. I will bid on something I am interested in and if a vulture outbids me Ill bid it up so it cost him more and walk away.
It sucks when I see something I want but there is nothing that I want that bad. I like TacomaWorld and how we can help each other out. Id rather pay additional shipping than a vultures profit.
Right now all I'm looking for is the silver Nova wagon Gasser that just came out and I saw The Snake and Mongoose 1/64 funny cars with haulers which are eluding me. Also see another 65 Comet Gasser as a future release.

I get where you’re coming from. It’s been discouraging to find them as often as I do. I’m just building a collection for myself and my 2 year old. It’s tough finding things and almost quit the hobby a few times because you get these dry spells or come in right after them. The employees don’t help either, they pick out all the good stuff or hide stuff for themselves or to sell, so I’ve been told by other employees. Target seems to have things more on lock down than all other stores. Just show up when they open or figure out what time they stock.

I have been collecting since the early 1980s and every year it only gets worse. Back then you didn't have to compete but I noticed in the mid 1990s that it was starting to change. I wish companies like Hot Wheels would release more of popular designs and less of the goofy stuff that just sits in the hooks.

The Walmart I stopped at today has a method to combat the crowds. The manager was teaching new hires how to stock and she saw me looking at the hot wheel boxes. She let me know where the other boxes were and mentioned that she keeps changing the stocking schedule when they figure out when the pallets drop. She stopped doing it before closing and changed it to morning at 6 when they open. Once they figured that out she changed it to 7. Then 730 which is when I showed up lol she just keeps changing it to give everyone a chance. I told her that I liked her idea and to keep doing it.

I do not want my son to collect any goofy cars. I’m going to make sure he loves cars early on. Real cars.

Waking up early requires effort, enthusiasm, and ambition and those are 3 things I’m lacking when it comes to finding these cars in the wild; my preferred methods are luck and whimsy..

@RLMoody ,I think I might have asked you about this before. Old poster from the '80's. I can't find any artist signature, maybe you recognize the style/artist?

Went to a Walmart today on my way home from work. There must have been 10-15 empty hot wheel cards. Freaking thieves suck! Couldn’t even imagine owning a retail store this day and age.

Blue and white late 70s Chevrolet Silverado. I blackened the wheel wells from that cast pewter and what a difference.
Another 55 Chevy Gasser in semi gloss black. Sorry but I love these cars, Wheel swap and details added.

I like the wheel well black, makes it more realistic. On my real life Tacoma I’m always detailing the s out of my wheel wells, I wax EVERYTHING

Late 1960s Dodge long bed and a 60 Ford Starliner with skirts. The 55 Chevy Gasser was originally all dark blue like the roof is. I masked that off and reshot it with flat medium metallic blue and added wheels and details.Time to go I'm off to the Gasser Nationals at Thompson today. Oops I mean Kuhnle Motor Sports Park. New owners. There are a couple Dollar Generals on the way.5323 hot wheels 062.jpg 5323 hot wheels 063.jpg 5323 hot wheels 065.jpg 5323 hot wheels 068.jpg 5323 hot wheels 069.jpg

Back from the races. Had a good time and took a lot of pictures. Stopped at those Dollar Generals. I pulled into the one 8 minutes after it opened and 2 vultures were already in there gutting the diecasts. I left. The other one was already picked clean. Even out in the boonies in the heart of Amish Country the vultures have it covered.
